Job description

Job Overview:

The Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) is seeking a skilled learning and development professional to join the Office of Human Resources and Talent Management to support the planning, coordination, and execution of agency-wide training and leadership development initiatives. This position plays a key role in strengthening workforce development by facilitating learning programs, supporting leadership development activities, and ensuring high-quality delivery of professional development opportunities. The Talent Management Coordinator reports to the Director of Learning and Development and provides operational, administrative, and programmatic support for academies and training programs. This role collaborates closely with internal and external partners to advance TDH’s organizational and workforce development goals. This is a contract position currently available through September 2030.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides administrative and operational support for leadership development programs, training initiatives, and engagement events
  • Coordinates logistics for academies, conferences, retreats, and professional development events, including securing venues, materials, technology, and catering services as needed
  • Ensures timely completion of required procurement documents, contracts, and agreements, including interagency agreements and internal approval documents
  • Assists with content development and instructional planning in partnership with internal and external partners
  • Attends development programs, academies, and training events to provide onsite coordination, technical assistance, and operational support to ensure seamless execution and positive participant experiences
  • Delivers training to internal customers to support employee learning and professional growth
  • Apply adult learning principles to the design and delivery of training programs to create effective and engaging learning environments
  • Assist in research, data analysis, and interventions that advance talent management and organizational development efforts


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • SHRM-CP, PHR, CPTD, or similar HR certification preferred
  • 4 years of experience in learning and development, training coordination, workforce development, organizational development, or a related role
  • Ability to travel in-state, overnight up to 30% of the time to support academies, conferences, leadership programs, and training events
  • Experience working with or within the public sector or government organizations
  • Experience coordinating training programs or leadership development initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, timelines, and stakeholders
  • Strong project management, facilitation, and communication skills
