Job Description:

We are seeking aPrincipal Structural Bridge Engineerto lead and support the planning, analysis, design, inspection, rehabilitation, and delivery of bridge projects throughout Denver, Colorado. This role is ideal for a technically strong engineer with deep bridge design experience, aProfessional Engineer PE license, and a strong understanding of transportation structures. Experience withseismic analysis and designis highly desirable.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering structural solutions for new and existing bridges, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, mentoring junior staff, and supporting clients through all phases of project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead structural engineering efforts for bridge and transportation structure projects in the Denver area.
  • Perform and oversee analysis and design for:
    • Highway bridges
    • Pedestrian bridges
    • Retaining walls
    • Culverts
    • Other transportation-related structures
  • Develop bridge rehabilitation, retrofit, widening, and replacement designs.
  • Prepare and review:
    • Structural calculations
    • Plans, specifications, and estimates
    • Design reports
    • Technical memoranda
  • Conduct or support bridge inspections, condition assessments, and load ratings.
  • Coordinate with roadway, geotechnical, hydraulic, traffic, and construction teams to deliver integrated project solutions.
  • Serve as a technical lead and provide guidance to junior engineers and designers.
  • Support project management activities including scope development, scheduling, budgeting, and client coordination.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements, including:
    • AASHTO
    • CDOT
    • FHWA
    • Local agency standards
  • Participate in client meetings, technical presentations, and proposal/business development efforts.
  • Support constructability reviews and respond to requests for information during design and construction.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (or related field) and typically10+ years of related work experience..
  • ActiveProfessional Engineer PE license in California and Texas.
  • Extensive experience inbridge engineeringwith demonstrated success in structural bridge design and delivery.
  • Strong knowledge of bridge analysis and design principles for steel, concrete, and prestressed concrete structures.
  • Experience developing contract documents, calculations, and technical reports.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry codes and standards, including AASHTO and state/local transportation agency requirements.
  • Proven ability to lead technical tasks and work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering or related field.
  • Experience withseismic analysis and designfor bridges and transportation structures.
  • Experience with bridge rehabilitation and retrofit projects.
  • Prior experience supporting projects for CDOT, municipalities, or other transportation agencies in Colorado.
  • Bridge inspection and/or load rating experience.
  • Proficiency with bridge engineering software and structural analysis tools.
  • Prior mentoring or team leadership experience.
