FireWatch - Yellow Badge

CTR Group is seeking a Yellow Badge Firewatch in the Hampton Roads Virginia area. Immediate openings and urgently hiring!

RESPONSIBILITIES & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prior firewatch experience in a shipyard or industrial setting preferred.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in extreme temperatures.
  • Must be physically capable of standing for extended periods and remaining attentive for long durations.
  • Familiarity with OSHA firewatch requirements, shipyard safety regulations, and hot work protocols.
  • Ability to operate fire suppression equipment, including portable fire extinguishers.
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
  • Must be willing to work various shifts, overtime, weekends, and in challenging shipyard environments.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required shipyard access and security clearances if necessary.
  • Continuously monitor hot work operations, including welding, cutting, and grinding, to prevent fire hazards.
  • Inspect and clear the work area of flammable materials and ensure proper fire prevention measures are in place.
  • Ensure fire extinguishers, fire blankets, and other firefighting equipment are properly positioned and fully operational.
  • Remain on-site for the duration of hot work and at least 30 minutes after completion to monitor for residual fire risks.
  • Immediately report and respond to any sparks, flames, or fire hazards in accordance with shipyard safety protocols.
  • Communicate effectively with welders, shipfitters, and safety personnel to ensure compliance with fire prevention procedures.
  • Work in confined spaces, on scaffolding, and in high-temperature environments as required.
  • Understand and follow all OSHA, NAVSEA Standard Items, and shipyard-specific fire safety regulations.
