Job description

Job Title: Firewatch
Location: Jacksonville, FL
Job Type: Full-Time
Pay Range: $18.00 per hour

Overview:
We have an immediate need for Shipyard Support Workers to provide general labor and safety support services within an active shipyard environment. This multi-functional role includes duties such as Firewatch, hole watch, confined space support, cleaning, material handling, and general labor. You will support skilled trades and shipyard operations while maintaining compliance with all safety, environmental, and operational requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform Firewatch duties during hot work operations, including monitoring work areas for fire hazards and maintaining required fire prevention equipment
  • Conduct hole watch and confined space support, maintaining communication and ensuring safe conditions are upheld
  • Provide general labor support, including assisting skilled trades, moving materials, and staging work areas
  • Perform industrial cleaning duties, including removal of debris, housekeeping, and maintaining safe walkways and work zones
  • Support shipyard safety protocols, including PPE compliance, access control, and hazard awareness
  • Assist with tool, equipment, and material handling as directed
  • Follow all site-specific safety rules, environmental regulations, and company policies
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, or near misses to supervision
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support shipyard operations
Work Environment:
  • Active shipyard and industrial setting
  • Exposure to noise, dust, weather conditions, and marine environments
  • May involve working around hot work, confined spaces, elevated surfaces, and heavy equipment
Qualifications:
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Ability to work in an industrial or shipyard environment
  • Understanding of basic safety practices; Firewatch or confined space experience preferred but not required
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
  • Physically able to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform manual labor for extended periods
  • Reliable attendance and strong safety awareness
Safety & Compliance:
  • Must comply with all OSHA regulations, shipyard safety standards, and client-specific requirements
  • Required to wear appropriate PPE at all times
  • Must participate in safety training as required by the site
