Position Summary

The Fire Alarm Service & Contract Sales Representative is responsible for developing new business opportunities and maintaining strong relationships with existing customers throughout the assigned territory. This role focuses on generating revenue through the sale of fire alarm inspection agreements, service contracts, repairs, upgrades, and related life safety solutions.

The successful candidate will spend the majority of their time meeting with customers, identifying opportunities, preparing proposals, conducting site visits, and managing the sales process from lead generation through contract execution.

This position requires strong relationship-building skills, technical aptitude, self-motivation, and the ability to develop long-term customer partnerships.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Business Development & Sales

  • Develop new customer relationships and identify new business opportunities.
  • Conduct cold calls, prospecting activities, networking, and lead generation efforts.
  • Meet with prospective and existing customers to evaluate service and inspection needs.
  • Promote fire alarm service agreements, inspection contracts, repairs, upgrades, and related life safety services.
  • Process sales activities and secure customer agreements and service contracts.
  • Meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales goals.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain long-term customer relationships through regular communication and face-to-face meetings.
  • Respond promptly to customer inquiries and requests.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor regarding fire alarm systems, code compliance, inspections, and maintenance requirements.
  • Follow up on proposals, quotations, contract renewals, and service opportunities.

Estimating & Proposal Development

  • Conduct site visits and field assessments as needed.
  • Prepare accurate quotations for inspection contracts, service agreements, repairs, and equipment sales.
  • Estimate labor, materials, and project requirements.
  • Enter and maintain quotes within company systems and ensure proper documentation.
  • Track proposal activity and maintain an accurate sales pipeline.

Sales Planning & Performance

  • Monitor sales performance and utilize historical data to identify growth opportunities.
  • Assist in the development and execution of sales campaigns and strategic initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, proposals, and sales activities.
  • Perform periodic field visits to verify customer satisfaction and quality of work performed.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 2 years of sales experience in a business-to-business environment.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional customer relationships.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Preferred

  • Experience in fire protection, life safety, fire alarm, sprinkler, security, or low-voltage industries.
  • Experience selling service agreements, inspections, maintenance contracts, or technical services.
  • Familiarity with NFPA standards and fire protection systems.
  • CRM or sales management software experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to travel regularly throughout the assigned territory.
  • Ability to walk job sites and perform field assessments.
  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and access customer facilities when necessary.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle for extended periods.
