Role Overview

The Strategy & Optimization Director, National Accounts, will lead initiatives that optimize contract performance and drive long-term growth for large strategic national accounts. This role serves as a strategic liaison between National Accounts and biopharma partners, influencing contract strategies and delivering enhanced economics for members. The Strategy & Optimization Director will play a critical role in shaping contracting strategies, forecasting multi-year performance, and guiding strategic planning sessions.

This position also leads large, complex initiatives with innovative thinking that drive industry change and create significant economic impact, positioning Onmark as a leader in strategic contracting and member engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning & Growth

    • Develop and execute short- and long-term strategic plans for contracts across multiple GPO programs.

    • Lead strategic planning sessions with members to align goals with economic success and contract optimization.

    • Perform competitive analysis, track industry trends, and maintain extensive knowledge of market conditions.

  • Biopharma Engagement & Contract Strategy

    • Act as a strategic liaison with biopharma partners, collaborating with Business Development Directors to craft contracts based on provider feedback.

    • Provide economic comparisons and optimization strategies to enhance contract performance and profitability.

  • Financial Forecasting & Market Analysis

    • Deliver financial modeling and scenario planning to identify opportunities for improved economics.

    • Incorporate market trend analysis and interlay provided disease state expertise into recommendations.

  • Innovation & Leadership

    • Drive innovation of new projects and initiatives that lead industry change and deliver measurable economic impact.

    • Lead complex, cross-functional projects to improve value, streamline efficiencies, and enhance customer experience.

    • Serve as a trusted advisor and fiduciary to C-suite executives, biopharma partners, and provider leadership.

    • Present regularly to GPO leadership on strategic initiatives, contract performance, and market dynamics.

    • Drive cross-functional collaboration with Sales, Clinical Specialists, and internal teams to execute therapeutic change and buy-in strategies.

Minimum Requirement

  • Degree or equivalent and typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree required (Business, Economics, Finance, or related field); MBA or advanced degree preferred.

Critical Skills

  • 7+ years of relevant healthcare experience, including strategic planning, financial analysis, and provider engagement.

  • Previous GPO experience and biopharma engagement strongly preferred

  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills; ability to build compelling business cases and presentations.

  • Exceptional relationship management and communication skills; ability to influence at all levels.

  • Proven ability to lead strategic initiatives with significant impact on provider economics and organizational growth.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. $105,500 - $175,900
