Job Description
This 6‑month contract Payroll Clerk role, with strong potential for permanent conversion, supports a high‑volume weekly payroll cycle in a fast‑paced, growing organization. The Payroll Clerk executes established payroll processes, handles timekeeping and garnishments, assists with payroll approvals and commission tracking, and provides day‑to‑day support to the payroll team. This fully onsite position offers exposure to payroll leadership, the chance to make an immediate impact during a critical team transition, and meaningful opportunities for professional growth as the company expands.
Responsibilities
- Administer timekeeping processes, ensuring employee hours are accurately recorded and submitted for payroll.
- Support weekly payroll processing for a high‑volume employee population, following established procedures and deadlines.
- Assist with payroll approvals by preparing, reviewing, and routing payroll data to appropriate stakeholders.
- Process and maintain garnishment records, ensuring accurate deductions and compliance with applicable orders.
- Track commissions and ensure they are calculated and entered correctly into payroll systems.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation to support audits, reporting, and compliance requirements.
- Use Excel to organize, validate, and reconcile payroll data, including applying formulas as needed.
- Collaborate with the payroll team and leadership to support expanding payroll operations during a critical team transition.
- Identify and escalate discrepancies or issues in timekeeping, garnishments, or payroll data for timely resolution.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of payroll processes by following best practices and providing feedback to the team.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with Paylocity is preferred; experience with ADP or Paycom is also acceptable.
- Ability to learn new payroll tools and procedures quickly during a team transition.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple payroll tasks simultaneously.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with payroll leadership and team members.
- Motivation to grow into expanded payroll responsibilities over time.

Work Environment
This role is fully onsite in a new office location in Fort Lauderdale, working Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The environment is fast‑paced and team‑oriented, supporting a high‑volume weekly payroll cycle within a growing organization that generates over $100M in annual revenue. The Payroll Clerk works closely with payroll leadership and colleagues, gaining exposure to expanding payroll operations and benefiting from a stable six‑month engagement with strong potential for permanent placement and ongoing professional growth.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fort Lauderdale, FL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00/hr.
