Title: Junior Database Administrator
Location: Baltimore, MD(Hybrid (3 days onsite: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday; 2 days remote: Monday, Friday).

Overview:
Work with a leading energy and utility organization managing critical electric and gas infrastructure. We are seeking a Junior Database Administrator to join our Tier 2 Operations team. This team provides high-impact, enterprise-level support across hundreds of production databases. You will collaborate with onshore and offshore teams to ensure optimal database performance, robust monitoring, and seamless data replication.
Primary Team Objective: Implemented to supplement a highly knowledgeable internal DBA currently managing OEM, acting as a resource to grow into the role over time
Key Responsibilities
Monitor, maintain, and support hundreds of enterprise Oracle databases across on-premises and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) environments.
Support critical utility infrastructure within a highly secure environment subject to NERC SIP compliance standards.
Participate in a Tier 2 on-call weekly rotation, serving as an escalation point for the offshore Tier 1 team, with a strict 15-minute response window for critical incidents.
Drive the reduction of Mean Time to Resolution (MTTR) by diagnosing complex database alerts and executing immediate resolutions.
Support environment backups and perform critical data restores to ensure operational functionality and data reliability.
(Junior Specific) Assist the primary administrator in managing, configuring, and expanding Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) to monitor database infrastructure.
(Junior Specific) Write custom administrative scripts and programs to automate operational tasks and improve environmental efficiency.
(Mid Specific) Manage data replication and data shipping across distinct platforms using Oracle Golden Gate.
(Mid Specific) Administer complex database clusters utilizing Oracle RAC and Oracle Exadata systems.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree preferably in IT, computer science or related field.
Must have hands-on experience utilizing Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) to monitor databases and associated infrastructure.
Requires strong scripting and programming skills to support infrastructure automation and monitoring setups.
Responsible for supporting database backups and ensuring reliable data restores.
Tasked with troubleshooting database performance and proactively preventing environment issues.
Must assist in monitoring Oracle RAC and Oracle Exadata environments via OEM.
Responsible for supporting both on-premises databases and those hosted within Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
Preferred Qualifications
Official Oracle Database Administrator certifications are highly preferred.
Prior experience working within a heavily regulated ecosystem, such as a Fortune 500 financial institution or a major utility provider.
Direct experience writing automated tasks to optimize database backup and recovery infrastructure.
