Job description

First Onsite is seeking to hire a full-time Travelling Commercial Project Manager to scope and estimate the work required to restore commercial properties impacted by water damage and other disaster events to their pre-loss condition. This position ensures that property owners, adjusters, and key stakeholders have an outstanding customer experience and are informed and satisfied throughout the process. This 12-month temporary contract role supports commercial construction operations, with a strong focus on scheduling, team coordination, and clear communication. This is a project-specific role requiring candidates to work onsite on a rotational schedule. Projects are located throughout Central Canada, with all required travel covered by the company.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A COMMERCIAL PROJECT MANAGER

As a Commercial Project Manager, you play a key role in ensuring that commercial projects are completed on time to our quality standards. To the property owner, adjuster, and insurance company, you are the face of our company. You establish trust as you consult with clients about projects, answering their questions and following up with them to ensure complete satisfaction. You prepare accurate quotations, job costing, and estimating. Throughout each project you manage, you inspect progress and work quality to ensure that emergency and rebuild timelines are met and limit business interruption to our clients. You manage all sorts of restoration claims including water damage, fire damage to both residential and commercial properties. As necessary, you resolve disputes and complaints cheerfully and in a professional manner. The strong relationships you build with home/business owners, adjusters, property managers, and other key players assist you in generating new leads. Your knowledge of the restoration/construction industry, your skills as an estimator, and your knack for sales help you excel in this project management position.

  • 3+ years of project management experience in restoration or commercial contracting
  • Ability to operate Full Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word)
  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the year
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Project and/or other project scheduling software
  • Strong command of English Language, with the ability to write scope letters, fixed bid letters and more
  • Strong communicator and can speak to project challenges and obstacles with a client-first mindset.
  • You are self-driven and can work on / manage multiple projects across the country as required at the same time.
  • Ability to adapt to changing schedules and environments
  • Ability to direct teams in high pressure environments and deliver results
  • IICRC or equivalent certifications preferred, including WRT, FSRT, or AMRT;
  • Provincial asbestos certification is an asset
  • Experience with Time and Materials estimating and invoicing practices
  • Ability to read and interpret Electrical, Mechanical and Architectural drawings
  • Ability to direct teams in high pressure environments and deliver results
  • Knowledge of Canadian Building Code as it relates to interior finishes and fire assemblies
  • Experience running staff and personnel on a site
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving abstract and clean criminal record
  • Work activities may include physical labour, material handling and lifting, climbing ladders, wearing a respirator, and working in tight spaces (attics, basements, and crawlspaces)
