Job description

Passionate about supporting students with diverse learning needs? A rewarding contract opportunity is available for two dedicated Special Education Teachers with expertise working with K-5th grade students on the Autism Spectrum. You'll provide instruction and support within a small, focused caseload, making a meaningful difference each day. The role is based near the Washington Navy Yard, DC, within a single school site, offering a consistent and enriching work environment.

Key Requirements & Experience:

  • Experience as a Special Education Teacher, especially serving K-5 students with Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills
  • Ability to create differentiated lesson plans and adapt curriculum to suit varied learning styles
  • Genuine commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive classroom culture

Role Details & Responsibilities:

  • Teach, support, and inspire a caseload of 8-10 elementary-aged students with ASD
  • Collaborate closely with fellow educators, school support staff, and families to develop and implement IEPs
  • Monitor student progress, document outcomes, and adjust strategies accordingly
  • Participate in school-based meetings, preservice training, and ongoing professional development
  • Commit to the full contract, starting with preservice/training from August 10–21, 2026; student start date is August 24, 2026; the assignment lasts through June 23, 2027
  • Work a full-time school schedule: Monday–Friday, 8 AM–4 PM, in line with the academic calendar
