Position Description:

The Preschool - Pre-Kindergarten Teacher is a qualified professional educator who meets the requirements to teach in a Catholic school in the Archdiocese of Denver. The teacher is hired by and directly accountable to the principal and preschool director(s). The teacher is expected to abide by the policies and procedures of Good Shepherd Catholic School, the Archdiocese of Denver, and the Office of Catholic Schools, as well as state and federal ECE regulations. The teacher cooperates with the principal and staff in providing an environment that promotes the ministry of Catholic education and helps build a Catholic culture in the school, ordered towards discipleship.


The teacher has a passion for:

  • Sharing the person of Jesus Christ, the Logos, with students every day through his/her teaching and personal life witness.
  • Teaching curriculum from the heart of the Church to help form students in a Christian way of seeing reality (Catholic worldview).ย

Essential Duties:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


Supervision of Students/Classroom Instruction

  • Active, Effective Supervision for Student Safety (Including Recess and Lunch Duties)
  • Plan, Deliver, and Assess High Quality Lessons Tied to Archdiocesan Standards
  • Maintain accurate student attendance and academic records in accordance with local school policies and procedures
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and secure learning and work environment
  • Maintains confidentiality and discretion regarding school and classroom matters

Preparation, Grading, and Professional Tasks

  • Lesson Preparation
  • Grading and Analyzing Student Performance
  • Staff/Department Meetings
  • Professional Development

Partnership with Parents

  • Weekly/Monthly Newsletterย 
  • Individual Communication w/ Parents
  • Parent Teacher Conferences

Requirements

Competencies:

  • To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate:
  • Evangelical zeal and apostolic mindset
  • A self-starter attitude and ability to enthusiastically motivate people
  • Ability to teach multiple age levels
  • Great communication and interpersonal skills
  • Intermediate level of IT literacy, with a willingness to learn new technologies
  • Attention to detail and organization, especially in record keeping
  • Strong teamwork skills


Qualifications:


Required

  • Be a fully initiated Catholic in the communion of the Catholic Church and intentionally living out the five precepts of the Church (CCC 2041-2043)
  • A love for children of all ages and commitment to their academic, spiritual, moral, and social growth and development
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written


Preferred

  • 2 years' experience as a teacher, trainer, or equivalent
  • Experience creating engaging lessonsย 
  • Experience in assessing students and analyzing student data
