Quality Engineer

Industry: Aerospace / Defense Contract Machining

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Engineer to support aerospace and defense machining operations, with a strong emphasis on documentation, compliance, and customer requirements. This role is primarily focused on quality documentation management, First Article Inspection (FAI) packages, and regulatory compliance, while also supporting SPC initiatives, Gage R&R studies, and leading inspection team activities. The ideal candidate thrives in a documentation-driven, audit-ready environment and understands the rigor of aerospace standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing Technology, or related field is preferred. Direct professional experience is the most important
  • 3+ years of experience in aerospace or defense manufacturing, preferably in precision machining.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 Rev D requirements.
  • Experience with SPC, process capability analysis (Cp/Cpk), and Gage R&R studies.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and blueprint interpretation.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP and electronic QMS systems.

Requirements

  • Develop, review, and maintain quality documentation including control plans, PFMEAs, inspection plans, and FAI packages.
  • Ensure compliance with aerospace customer specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead corrective actions, root cause analysis, and nonconformance investigations.
  • Implement and monitor SPC programs and analyze quality data trends.
  • Provide technical oversight and coordination of inspection team activities.
  • Support internal, customer, and third-party audits.
