Job Overview

Lancaster’s Custom Dock & Lift Systems, Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to oversee technically complex marine construction projects performed on or over water. This is not a commercial building construction role. We are seeking a seasoned professional with a strong background in dock structures, marine construction, dredging, and shoreline or seawall installation and removal.

Our projects require precision planning, marine logistics coordination, and hands-on leadership in challenging environments. The ideal candidate has successfully managed operations from floating equipment, understands heavy civil risk management, and thrives in demanding marine construction settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead full lifecycle management of marine construction projects from preconstruction planning through project closeout
  • Oversee projects involving residential docks, private marina slips, and commercial marine structures
  • Develop and manage detailed work plans, cost structures, baseline schedules, and recovery schedules
  • Supervise deep-water operations, including pile driving (steel, concrete, and timber)
  • Manage marine logistics including barges, cranes, floating equipment, and specialty marine access systems
  • Coordinate work sequencing across navigable waterways and challenging marine environments
  • Direct collaboration between field leadership, engineering teams, subcontractors, and property owners
  • Maintain strict financial oversight including forecasting, cost tracking, productivity analysis, and change management
  • Prepare and negotiate change orders and contract modifications
  • Review and approve submittals, shop drawings, lift plans, and engineered marine work plans
  • Support preconstruction and pursuit efforts including bid reviews, quantity takeoffs, pricing strategies, and risk analysis
  • Coordinate with public agencies including county and state permitting offices, Duke Energy, DOT, USACE, and marine authorities
  • Travel to active marine construction sites up to 75% as required


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical field
  • Minimum 5+ years of project management experience in marine structural or infrastructure construction
  • Experience managing projects involving:
  • Marine substructures and superstructures
  • Dock and marina construction
  • Barge terminal construction
  • Deep foundation systems and pile-supported structures
  • Strong knowledge of marine construction methods, including work from floating platforms and temporary work in water
  • Experience managing public and private infrastructure contracts with complex regulatory requirements
  • Advanced knowledge of project scheduling software such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project
  • Strong background in cost control, forecasting, and contract administration
  • Demonstrated ability to lead field teams in high-risk marine environments
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interface with owners, engineers, inspectors, and executive leadership
