Position Summary
The Cook 2 is a skilled member of the back-of-house team responsible for executing high-quality food preparation and supporting overall kitchen operations. In addition to performing all Cook 1 and BOH Crew duties, this role demonstrates advanced cooking skills, ensures consistency across multiple stations, and supports training of entry-level team members. As a Crew Level 3 position, the Cook 2 plays a critical role in maintaining Olive & Finch's chef-driven standards and seamless guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform all duties of Cook 1 and BOH Crew, including dishwashing, food prep, cleanliness, and line cooking.
  • Execute advanced cooking techniques across multiple stations with consistency and accuracy.
  • Ensure all dishes are prepared in accordance with recipes, build guides, and presentation standards.
  • Assist in training and mentoring new BOH Crew and Cook 1 team members.
  • Support kitchen leadership in monitoring food quality, portioning, labeling, and storage.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, following all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with FOH and BOH teams to ensure smooth service.
  • Help identify and resolve issues during service to keep kitchen operations running efficiently.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 1-2 years of line cook or equivalent kitchen experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, kitchen equipment, and food safety practices.
  • Ability to work multiple stations and maintain high quality in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Reporting Structure
Reports to the Kitchen Manager. This position does not have direct reports but may assist in training BOH Crew and Cook 1 staff.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This is a hands-on, kitchen-based position requiring extended periods of standing, bending, lifting, and working quickly in a high-volume environment. Must be able to handle exposure to heat, cold, and cleaning chemicals. Shifts may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
