Position Description The Assistant Controller supports the Controller in directing the Company's accounting, financial reporting, treasury management, and government contract accounting functions. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and other government contracting requirements. The Assistant Controller oversees the monthly financial close process, maintains internal controls, supports government audits, manages treasury activities, and serves as a key financial partner to executive leadership.  Essential Responsibilities * Accounting Operations * Assist the Controller in directing all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and project accounting. * Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process. * Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements for accuracy and completeness. * Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies. * Maintain and strengthen internal accounting controls and financial processes. * Government Contract Accounting * Ensure compliance with FAR, CAS, DCAA, and other government contracting regulations. * Oversee project setup, indirect cost allocations, contract funding, and revenue recognition. * Support the preparation of Incurred Cost Submissions, Forward Pricing Rate Proposals (FPRP), and indirect rate calculations. * Coordinate and support DCAA, DCMA, and external financial audits. * Monitor contract profitability and advise management on financial performance and compliance matters. * Treasury Management * Oversee the Company's daily treasury operations, including cash management, liquidity forecasting, and banking relationships. * Prepare and monitor short- and long-term cash flow forecasts. * Manage electronic funds transfers, wire transactions, positive pay, and other banking activities. * Coordinate debt compliance, banking agreements, and corporate credit facilities. * Optimize cash utilization while maintaining appropriate liquidity to support operational requirements. * Assist with investment management and other treasury-related initiatives as directed by the Controller or Chief Financial Officer. * Financial Reporting & Analysis * Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports. * Analyze operating results, financial trends, and key performance indicators. * Develop executive-level financial dashboards and presentations. * Support the annual budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning processes. * Leadership & Process Improvement * Supervise and mentor accounting staff while fostering professional development. * Recommend and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, strengthen internal controls, and enhance financial reporting. * Partner with Operations, Contracts, Human Resources, and Program Management to support business objectives. * Serve as acting Controller during the Controller's absence. Qualifications Required: * Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience. * Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience. * Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience supporting a federal government contractor. * Minimum of 3 years of supervisory or accounting management experience. * Candidates must demonstrate experience with: * Deltek Costpoint (Required) * Government contract accounting * Treasury management and cash flow forecasting * Financial statement preparation * General ledger accounting * Month-end and year-end close * Revenue recognition * Project accounting * Indirect rate calculations * DCAA audit support * FAR and CAS compliance * Banking and cash management * Executive financial reporting * Microsoft Excel (Advanced), including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, Power Query, and financial modeling * Microsoft Office Suite * Thorough knowledge of GAAP, FAR, CAS, and government contract accounting requirements. * Strong understanding of treasury operations, banking relationships, and cash management. * Ability to prepare and present executive-level financial analyses and reports. * Excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership skills. Qualifications Desired: * Active CPA license. * Experience with Deltek Costpoint Cloud. * Experience with Microsoft Sharepoint * Experience with financial system implementations or accounting process improvements. * Experience supporting annual financial statement audits and government compliance reviews.
