Washington Connections Academy (WACA) is a tuition-free, virtual public school serving students in grades K-12 statewide. WACA has two schools under its umbrella of the shared-services model. It operates in partnerships with the Mary M. Knight School District and Goldendale School District and is under contract with Connections Academy to provide its educational program and other services. Both Washington Connections Academy schools are accredited by Cognia and were recognized as Cognia Schools of Distinction in 2022.
Position Summary
The Multilingual Teacher supports the academic and language development of English learners (ELs) through targeted instruction and collaboration with general education staff. This role ensures students acquire English proficiency while accessing core content and meeting state standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct English language development (ELD) instruction aligned with students' language proficiency levels.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to support ELs in accessing grade-level curriculum.
- Monitor and document language development progress.
- Communicate regularly with families using appropriate language supports.
- Participate in EL identification, placement, and reclassification processes.
Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certificate with appropriate ESL, ELL, or bilingual endorsement (as required by Washington state).
- Experience working with linguistically and culturally diverse students preferred.
- Washington state residency
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
Salary based on experience and education: $44,500 per year.
