About the Role

TutorMe is seeking an experienced elementary educator to serve as a full-time, in-home primary teacher for a first-grade student in Sandy Springs. This is not supplemental tutoring. You will be the child's main daytime educator, responsible for assessing his academic level, building and delivering a complete first-grade curriculum, and managing his day-to-day learning progress.

The ideal candidate has classroom or homeschool teaching experience, is comfortable working independently in a family's home, and can adapt instruction for a bright, Montessori-background student who thrives with individualized, self-directed learning.

What You'll Do

• Conduct an initial academic assessment to determine the student's current level across core subjects
• Design and deliver a complete first-grade curriculum covering reading/phonics, writing and language arts, math, science, and social studies
• Personalize pacing and challenge level based on the student's individual abilities rather than defaulting to grade-level pacing alone
• Build and maintain a structured, developmentally-appropriate daily/weekly schedule
• Track and report on academic progress on an ongoing basis
• Foster engagement, confidence, and independence in the student's learning
• Maintain instructional consistency during periods of family travel, including transitioning to virtual sessions or adjusted assignments as needed
• Keep instruction aligned to standards in a way that would allow a seamless transition back into a traditional school setting if desired
• Support the family with general guidance on Georgia homeschool compliance and recordkeeping norms

Schedule

• 4-5 days per week, in-home in Sandy Springs
• Full school-day structure appropriate for a 6-year-old (exact hours to be finalized, generally mid-morning to mid-afternoon)
• Fall 2026 start; flexibility on exact start date preferred but prompt availability is a plus
• Willingness to shift to virtual instruction on short notice during family travel

Who You Are

• Experienced elementary educator (classroom teaching, homeschool instruction, or equivalent) with a strong grasp of first-grade academic standards
• Comfortable independently selecting or adapting curriculum to fit a student's needs
• Skilled at building rapport with young children and creating an engaging, confidence-building learning environment
• Experience with Montessori or individualized/self-paced learning environments is a strong plus
• Reliable, highly communicative, and comfortable working directly with a parent who is closely involved but often traveling
• Background check and reference-ready
