Job description


Looking for a contracted Private Chef to work for an UHNW couple on a regular basis in Aspen at various times throughout the year to prepare daily meals for a range of guests and occasions. Must be local to Aspen, no relocations. Chef should be well-versed in handling daily meals as well as special occasions, and larger events with oversight.

Use creativity to curate an amazing culinary experience for the Principals and their guests, as well as a mixture of responsibilities ranging from event planning, staffing & management.

Prepare menus according to season, using locally sourced (where possible), organically grown produce & sustainably food sources. Collaborate and communicate effectively across multiple estates for any changes to events, Principal’s food preferences, or dietary requirements.

Essential Job Functions

  • Prepare meals or snacks following the Principal’s and guest dietary requirements.
  • Responsible for entertaining and personal services such as managing events, including hiring caterers and serving staff, valets or drivers, and / or specialty vendors as needed; provide Events Team with written details of all plans, and vendors utilized.

Culinary Responsibilities

  • Plan, shop, prepare, and cook meals and snacks
  • Ensure breakfast and lunch options and requirements are met for homes when family or guests are in residence
  • Stock all fresh produce and beverages deemed essential by the family
  • Be aware of any dietary restrictions for all family members and guests
  • Secure any “special” food supplies requested by family and/or guests
  • Maintain properly stocked pantry preferences at multiple residences based on family travel dates
  • Assist the Principals and their family members with any culinary questions that may arise
  • Prepare food items for donations or outside events and then put the items and any service utensils needed together in a travel friendly package.
  • Secure ingredients for staff lounge upon request

Service Responsibilities

  • Perform service if fewer than 6 total guests
  • Coordinate staff for meals of 6+ guests (dish or service)
  • Coordinate and set table with proper table settings according to principal’s preferences
  • Receive and greet guests upon arrival as necessary
  • Ensure proper ambiance (table lighting, temperature, music, candles, etc.)
  • Return kitchen and dining area to original condition after service

Management Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage event staff.
  • Document event staff hours according to service agreements and submit invoices to Finance Manager for payment
  • Manage kitchen cleaning supplies with collaboration from housekeepers
  • Manage events disposables and plastic storage inventory
  • Manage beverage inventory

Events

  • Work with Principal’s administrative staff and/or outside event coordinators to conceptualize & coordinate event needs
  • Organize and oversee the service staffing levels for large events and facilitate service staff hiring with Principal’s administrative staff
  • Coordinate and manage event staff for event layout, timing, flow and culinary aspects of food service

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain a household inventory list of frequently used products
  • Point out any noticeable damages and/or potential damages throughout the homes following events and ongoing
  • Be proactive and assertive about positive changes that can make the overall running of the home better and more efficient
  • Establish and develop a Chef archive in chosen platform
  • Develop recipes for Principal’s records to be stored in shared with other team members as necessary
  • Submit monthly expense reports

Maintenance Responsibilities

  • Source, maintain or replace any necessary service items, equipment, or tools as needed
  • Create & execute service maintenance program for major appliances with Estate Manager

All other duties as assigned Requirements

  • Maintain the highest safety, sanitation, health and food storage standards
  • Set the tone for a creative, professional & inspired kitchen
  • Move about the workplace efficiently with care and consideration to noise
  • Able to track, use, and communicate across multiple platforms
  • Must be able to adapt to a dynamic work environment
  • Able to stand at least 12 hours & work numerous days in a row on occasion
  • Able to lift 35lbs. on a daily basis
  • Run errands for the Principals if necessary
  • Cross train peers for coverage.
