Job description

Overview
Are you ready for what's next, now?
We are seeking a FinOps Technical Analyst to bridge the gap between Technology, Cloud Engineering, R&D, and Corporate Finance (FP&A). This role is responsible for driving the business value of our technology and cloud spend, ensuring AWS and Azure costs are accurately reported, understood, and aligned to business revenue at a global scale.
This is a technology-first role with strong financial acumen - not a traditional finance analyst position. The ideal candidate is hands-on in cloud platforms, understands how systems are built and consumed, and can translate that usage into clear cost, unit economics, and total cost of ownership insights.
About the Role
The FinOps Technical Analyst sits at the intersection of technology, finance, and the business. You will work closely with Cloud Engineering, R&D teams, Architecture, and FP&A to understand what is being built, how it is consumed, and what it means from a cost and revenue perspective.
FinOps in this role goes beyond cloud alone and extends to technology spend as a whole within a global software organization. You will be expected to go directly to source systems, analyze usage and configurations, and clearly explain cost drivers, variances, and optimization opportunities to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
FP&A Collaboration & Cost-to-Revenue Strategy
  • Partner with FP&A to correlate cloud and technology costs to specific products, services, or revenue streams to enable unit economics
  • Report on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), clearly explaining Natural vs. Gross costs and margin impact to non-technical audiences
  • Support monthly Actual vs. Budget reviews, identifying the technical and business drivers behind cost variances

Hands-On Cloud Cost Review & Optimization
  • Perform deep-dive analysis within AWS Cost Explorer and Azure Cost Management to investigate usage patterns and cost anomalies
  • Drill down to resource-level details to explain why specific products, environments, or services are driving higher costs
  • Identify inefficiencies such as orphaned resources, underutilized services, or suboptimal configurations
  • Partner with Cloud Architects to recommend, track, and measure ROI from AWS Savings Plans and Azure Reservations

Data Visualization & Dashboards
  • Build unified, cross-cloud dashboards using advanced SQL and Power BI (or similar analytics tools) that merge AWS, Azure, and internal financial data
  • Enable stakeholders to slice and dice costs by product, environment, team, or business unit
  • Create executive-level summaries highlighting cost efficiency trends, optimization outcomes, and forecasting insights

Governance & Enablement
  • Define and enforce tagging and metadata standards required for accurate and complete cost allocation
  • Establish repeatable FinOps and reporting practices that scale across a global organization
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert for technology cost transparency and FinOps best practices
About You
  • Strong technical background with hands-on experience in AWS and Azure environments
  • Comfortable navigating cloud platforms to analyze configurations, usage, and cost drivers directly
  • Financial acumen with experience partnering with FP&A or performing cost, budget, and variance analysis
  • Advanced SQL skills with experience building dashboards in Power BI or similar BI tools
  • Ability to clearly explain complex technical and financial concepts to diverse audiences
  • Comfortable operating in a global, cross-functional environment

Experience & Technical Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in FinOps, Cloud Cost Management, or Technology Financial Management roles
  • Hands-on experience working directly with AWS Cost Explorer and Azure Cost Management / Azure Advisor
  • Strong technical background with the ability to navigate cloud platforms to analyze usage, configurations, and cost drivers
  • Advanced SQL skills, including joining and analyzing large billing and usage datasets
  • Extensive experience building dashboards and reports using Power BI or similar BI/analytics tools
  • Solid understanding of P&L structures, accrual accounting, and cloud billing cycles
  • Proven ability to translate technical usage and cost data into financial and business insights
  • Experience partnering closely with FP&A and technology teams in a cross-functional environment
  • FinOps Certified Practitioner (FOCP) certification preferred
