Position Summary
P17 Solutions is seeking an experienced and motivated Mid-Senior Accountant to join our corporate team. This position requires demonstrated experience in federal government contracting finance and accounting, with direct responsibility for the full scope of accounting operations in Unanet, an ERP environment. The successful candidate will be versed in General Ledger & Financial Reporting, Project & Contract Accounting, Indirect Cost & Overhead Management, DCAA timekeeping requirements, Payroll and Labor reconciliation, Compliance & Internal Controls, to ensure accurate financial management across a diverse portfolio of government contracts.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for daily accounting processing and assisting in the financial deliverables to include month-end financial statements, project expense reports and ad hoc financial analyses. Must be a CPA
General Ledger & Financial Reporting
  • Perform full-cycle general ledger accounting, including preparing and posting journal entries, monthly balance sheet reconciliations, and account analysis to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations in Unanet to ensure accuracy in reporting and ledger maintenance.
  • Analyze and post monthly balance sheet adjustments and support account reconciliations.
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of close schedules and supporting month-end financial statement deliverables.
  • Post cash receipts and disbursements and maintain supporting project accounting schedules.
  • Prepare corporate and project revenue and cost projections, tracking client funding within Unanet.
  • Prepare project expense reports and ad hoc financial analyses to support management decision-making.

Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable & Payroll
  • Manage, process, and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Process payroll using iSolved in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Prepare payroll labor reconciliations for review and posting of labor.
  • Maintain purchase requisitions for subcontractors, consultants, and materials; monitor subcontractor costs and review invoices.

Grants, Compliance & Travel
  • Monitor and report on obligations and grants, ensuring compliance with federal and agency guidelines.
  • Process and review travel payments in Unanet, verifying accuracy and adherence to policy.
  • Apply for new state and local tax ID numbers as needed.

Unanet System Administration & Project Accounting
  • Set up new projects and process contract modifications in Unanet, including review of contract setup to ensure accurate billing, funding, and reporting structures.
  • Serve as lead for Time & Labor in Unanet, providing direct support to project teams on time and labor issues, including subcontractor timekeeping.
  • Set up new hires and process terminations within Unanet.
  • Support forecasting and budgeting activities in Unanet, including tracking funding ceilings and burn rates by project.
  • Process, participate in, and analyze monthly customer invoices, ensuring all billable costs are accurately captured and invoiced through Unanet.

Audit, Analysis & Cross-Functional Support
  • Assist with internal and external audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and issues as they arise.
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve accounting discrepancies and improve payment processes.
  • Support development of the corporate budget and perform financial analysis of variances.
  • Interface with corporate staff, project managers, and external customers to address financial and accounting issues in a timely, effective manner.
  • Perform other duties and prepare various ad hoc reports as assigned or needed.

Required Qualifications:
  • Must be a CPA
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in accounting within a federal contracting environment.
  • Required: Hands-on proficiency with Unanet, a specialized project-based Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, including demonstrated experience with project and contract setup, Time & Labor administration, customer invoicing, account reconciliations, and budgeting/forecasting.
  • Strong general ledger accounting knowledge, including journal entries, account and balance sheet reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close processes.
  • Extensive knowledge of the practices and principles of government contract (FAR) accounting, budgeting, cash management, contract management, and GAAP.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint; proficient in Adobe Acrobat Professional and other relevant software.
  • Excellent and professional oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time and priority management skills, with proven experience meeting tight deadlines and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines using strong analytical and problem-solving skills to maintain multiple project schedules.
  • Able to collaborate and interact with internal and external stakeholders effectively and professionally; must be a team player, hands-on, and take ownership of projects.
  • Exceptional customer service skills; ability to address and resolve concerns in a proof-positive manner and provide effective solutions resulting in positive outcomes.
  • Exceptional analytical and listening skills; willingness to learn new concepts.

Work Environment
