Job description

At Cardinal Health, we are developing innovative products and services that make healthcare safer, more efficient, and more cost-effective. Our Global Medical Products and Distribution (GMPD) segment combines deep industry expertise with a comprehensive portfolio of medical products, supply chain solutions, and clinical services to help healthcare providers improve outcomes and reduce complexity.

As part of GMPD, Presource® Solutions partners with healthcare organizations to optimize procedural supply chains through standard and custom procedure trays. With more than 190,000 standard and 75,000 custom trays produced daily, we help customers improve operational efficiency, drive standardization, and enhance clinical outcomes across the continuum of care.

The Senior Strategic Optimization Consultant, Surgical Kit Solutions (Presource®) is a field-based consultative role that partners closely with OR Sales leadership and healthcare providers to drive strategic initiatives within existing and new Presource customers. Serving as a subject matter expert, this individual leads complex customer projects that optimize custom surgical packs, improve procedural workflows, and deliver measurable clinical, operational, and financial value. Working collaboratively with clinicians, supply chain leaders, and hospital decision-makers, the Senior Strategic Optimization Consultant identifies opportunities for standardization, cost reduction, and process improvement while supporting profitable growth. Key initiatives include IDN standardization efforts, large-scale program reviews, procedural tray optimization, utilization assessments, and the implementation of solutions that reduce waste, enhance efficiency, and lower the total cost of care. Through data-driven insights, consultative expertise, and strong customer engagement, this role helps strengthen customer relationships and advance Cardinal Health's strategic partnership with healthcare systems.

  • Lead procedural supply chain assessments in partnership with field sales teams to identify standardization, efficiency, and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Supports preparation for onsite program reviews, perform financial analysis across key business metrics, and deliver formal customer presentations with actionable recommendations.
  • Optimize supply chain efficiency: Reduce SKU complexity and mitigate backorder risks by reconciling client forecasting with capacity data, guiding hospitals toward high-velocity standardized components, and pre-validating clinical portfolio substitutes.
  • Lead complex customer projects from planning through execution, ensuring timely delivery and measurable outcomes.
  • Develop and execute project roadmaps aligned with contract goals and customer priorities.
  • Drive standardization conversations and support implementation strategies across IDNs and health systems.
  • Serve as a Presource subject matter expert, articulating the value of procedural tray solutions and supply chain efficiencies.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, operations, marketing, and clinical stakeholders to advance customer initiatives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers, influencers, field sales representatives, and regional leaders.
  • Participate in customer meetings, training events, trade shows, and industry conferences.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, expense reporting, credentialing requirements, and other administrative responsibilities.
  • Stay current on industry trends, healthcare economics, competitive activity, reimbursement models, and GPO dynamics.
Qualifications
  • 8+ years of operating room, procedural tray, kitting, healthcare supply chain, or related healthcare industry experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of procedural supply chain management, standardization strategies, and clinical product utilization.  Sales experience preferred.
  • Experience leading customer-facing projects and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated financial acumen with the ability to analyze business opportunities and communicate value-based solutions.
  • Strong presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders and collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent project management, organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
