The Role:
Leads and manages the company-wide Emergency Management and Business Continuity (EM/BC) programs to ensure strategic readiness, regulatory compliance, and operational resilience. This role oversees the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of policies, plans, and processes that prepare the company to respond effectively to emergencies and business disruptions. Provides consultation to senior leadership and manages cross-functional teams and external partners to build a resilient organizational culture.
Day to Day:
  • Lead the development, maturation, and governance of the company's enterprise-wide emergency management and business continuity programs.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership and department heads to assess organizational risk and design integrated continuity strategies.
  • Develop short- and long-term plans to align EM/BC capabilities with evolving internal and external risks.
  • Manage company-wide emergency response and continuity plans; ensure integration across departments and critical operations.
  • Facilitate regular testing, auditing, and exercising of emergency and continuity plans.
  • Serve as the lead advisor and coordinator during emergencies or disruptive events.
  • Activate and manage the Business Continuity and lead recovery efforts.
  • Develop and lead education and awareness programs to enhance preparedness across the company.
  • Oversee budget planning and resource allocation for emergency management and business continuity initiatives.
  • Supports Company's commitment to a culture of safe work practices.
  • Collaborates with IT&S and cybersecurity teams to align business continuity strategies with IT disaster recovery plans, ensuring cohesive incident response procedures and joint participation in tabletop exercises and resilience assessments.

Come on your first day with:
  • Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Business Continuity, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 7 or more years of progressively responsible experience in emergency management, business continuity, and disaster recovery.
  • Professional certifications strongly preferred: CEM, ORCEM, CBCP, MBCP, or similar.
  • Extensive knowledge of the National Incident Management System/Incident Command System
  • A demonstrated history of developing and conducting ICS training. Certified ICS instructor highly preferred.
  • Experience in developing and conducting emergency exercises using HSEEP principles.
  • Utility experience preferred. Natural gas and/or water utility experience highly preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional crisis response and resilience programs.
  • Experience managing staff and/or large-scale initiatives in a matrixed or corporate environment.
  • Organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex initiatives, meet deadlines, and work independently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including active listening, facilitation, and the ability to influence stakeholders across all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated analytical and creative problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and present recommendations and identify alternative solutions.
  • Computer skills and the ability to apply them to various Company systems, word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
  • Proficiency in continuity planning tools, emergency notification systems, incident command frameworks, and Microsoft Office or equivalent business software.

Base salary range: $123,500.00 - $175,950.00 per year, depending on qualifications
Annual Target Incentive: Manager, 15.0% target
Targets are calculated using eligible earnings during plan year participation. Payout, if earned, is based on company and individual performance for each plan year and may range from 0% - 200% of target. Targets are subject to change in subsequent plan years. Must be employed by September 30 in order to receive any prorated payout.
