Audience Growth & Engagement Lead

Durham, NC • Hybrid

Full-time

Posted 22 days ago

Job description

At Digital Turbine, we make mobile advertising experiences more meaningful and rewarding for users, app publishers, and advertisers - intelligently connecting people in more ways, across more devices. We provide app publishers and advertisers with powerful ads and experiences that captivate consumers, fuel performance, and help telecoms and OEMs supercharge awareness, acquisition, and monetization. In a rapidly evolving industry, we are constantly innovating and creating better paths of discovery to connect consumers, publishers, and advertisers across the mobile ecosystem.

Please note that Digital Turbine is a hybrid work environment-only candidates local to the posting location will be considered.

Digital Turbine is seeking a high-impact, strategic thinker to fill the newly created role of Audience Growth & Engagement Lead. This is not a traditional editorial role; it is a specialized, revenue-enabling function designed to treat our owned content surfaces with the same analytical rigor as a product.

The successful candidate will bridge the gap between content strategy, product engineering, and monetization to build a durable competitive advantage and a moat against the volatility of the paid acquisition market.

Core mission for the role: Drive sustainable audience growth and engagement across Digital Turbine's current and future content surfaces, with a key role in shaping the audience strategy for our next-generation app experiences. This leader will help design and implement the growth, personalization, distribution, and engagement mechanics that make our rebuilt product ecosystem more valuable for users, partners, and advertiser-funded content.

About the Audience Growth & Engagement Lead:

  • Owned Channel & Personalization Strategy: Execute strategies to distribute content across app surfaces, feeds, and notifications You will partner with Product to deploy personalization engines and run A/B tests to increase session frequency and time spent

  • Future-State App Growth Architecture: Help design and implement the growth strategy for new and rebuilt app experiences, translating audience insights, personalization opportunities, and experimentation learnings into product requirements, launch plans, and engagement tactics

  • Lifecycle Engagement: Collaborate with Marketing to design CRM tactics-including push notifications and segmentation-to nurture users, boost re-engagement, and increase long-term retention

  • Monetization through Inventory Engineering: Maximize the yield of content inventory by optimizing advertiser-sponsored content and testing headlines and formats You will provide critical performance data to Ad Sales to demonstrate ROI

  • Analytics & Experimentation: Define growth metrics, build performance dashboards, and champion a conversion rate optimization (CRO) mindset to identify opportunities within user funnels

  • App Store Optimization (ASO): Leverage content quality to improve app store ratings and reviews, ensuring user satisfaction translates into organic growth

  • Reporting Line: Direct report to the Head of Content Media with a formal dotted-line partnership to the Product organization

  • Cross-Functional Role: You will act as a "translator" between departments: owning the experimentation agenda with Product, aligning lifecycle tactics with Marketing, and providing performance data to Ad Sales

Success Metrics:

  • Increase in session frequency and time-on-content (DAU MAU ratio)

  • Growth in daily active users (DAU) on owned channels

  • Improvement in app store ratings related to the content experience

  • Achievement of CTR and engagement benchmarks for sponsored content

  • Uplift in downstream advertiser click-throughs

  • Delivery of audience growth and engagement requirements for new or rebuilt app experiences, with clear launch goals, test plans, and post-launch performance readouts

About You as the Audience Growth & Engagement Lead

  • 6+ years of proven track record in a modern, content-driven growth mandate, likely coming from a digital publisher, content platform, or the AdTech sector

  • Hybrid Skill Set: A rare combination of content intuition ("the what") and technical growth and engagement tactics ("the how")

  • Technical Acumen: Ability to design algorithmic feed strategies and treat content as a product through rigorous testing

  • Strategic Authority: Ability to negotiate for resources and drive alignment across complex, cross-functional initiatives

  • New Experience Architecture: Experience helping architect new or rebuilt app experiences, connecting audience insight, content strategy, personalization, and growth tactics into a product experience users want to return to
