Job description

At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we are writing the next episode - pushing the boundaries of storytelling, global fandom and making the unimaginable a reality. We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition and cutting-edge technology. Come be a part of what's next.

The Team

The Product Merchandising organization connects members to our world of entertainment by creating a Netflix experience that is engaging, relevant and truly delightful for everyone, everywhere. Blending intuitive discovery and local expertise, the team positions, promotes and presents content so members find it easy and enjoyable to choose what they'll love.

Within this organization, the New Content Exploration (NCE) team of Product Managers is leading the strategy to shape how Netflix members discover and engage with emerging content. This includes areas like games discovery, live streaming events, podcasts and much more. Our work spans all platforms (TV/living room, mobile, tablet, and web), and includes features and experiences across discovery/browse, player, profiles, and new surfaces.

The Role

As Product Manager - Podcasts & New Content Exploration, you will drive the evolution of discovery and engagement experiences for Podcasts and other emerging content types as Netflix's offering grows. You will play a key role, partnering with the cross-functional teams, to set the vision and conceive of discovery experiences, features and capabilities that delight members. You'll define and convert those concepts into a well-scoped project roadmaps, prioritize smartly among competing efforts, and ensure the team executes at a high level.

As Netflix expands beyond traditional film and series, you'll partner across the PM community to ensure the vision and strategy of the member experience for podcasts and more fit seamlessly into the bigger picture (Live, Games, and more...)

You will sit at the intersection of Product, Tech, Content and Production, serving as the "connective tissue" that ensures our product surface evolves in lockstep with our content strategy. Your mission is to define the product strategy, audience/member needs, roadmap, and experimentation approach that allow diverse content types to flexibly thrive on a single, unified platform. You will bring an exceptional approach to partnership, exhibit deep curiosity and foster a collaborative approach when translating Podcast & New Content Exploration goals into product strategy.

You must be comfortable at the hub of a fast-paced environment where you interface daily with cross-functional experts across both the tech and entertainment sides of the business, with proven success in how to balance requirements/tradeoffs effectively. You must be passionate about building alignment, while not being afraid to push ahead when there remain some critics, influencing and keeping momentum in the face of ambiguity.

What You'll Do

As Product Manager - Podcasts & New Content Exploration, you'll be the driving force behind the product strategy for Podcasts and other emerging content types on Netflix:

  • Working through open-ended problems and identifying opportunities for evolution of existing or conceptualizing new discovery, capability or feature requirements

  • Build a roadmap and take product concepts from idea through validation, shipping, measurement, and iteration

  • Author strategy memos and presentations to represent your team's work. Ensure the broader organization understands the Podcast/NCE product strategy and roadmap, fostering transparency

  • Proactively seek diverse viewpoints to keep our focus on the most critical, strategic and impactful work in the Podcast/NCE space

  • Influence a team of stunning colleagues across design, engineering, consumer insights, merchandising and data science to deliver outstanding products

  • Build business cases and measure the impact of your product innovation, with your data science partners

  • Deeply understand and socialize the evolving needs of our members, with your consumer insights and design partners

What You'll Bring

As Product Manager - Podcasts & New Content Exploration, you'll be passionate about the work, bringing:

  • 7+ years of experience developing consumer products and features and comfortable operating with complex tradeoffs

  • Experience working on podcast streaming products at scale, and a great understanding of the podcast lifecycle

  • Ability to function as the E2E owner of the product development life cycle from inception through planning to launch

  • Demonstrated leadership of a space, working effectively across organizations to drive alignment

  • Experience with A/B testing, and strong business acumen with proficiency in identifying, tracking and acting upon metrics, designing tests, and collaborating with data science partners

  • Very high attention to detail, with an ability to connect the smallest experience elements to the big picture goals at the company and team level

  • Excellent data-informed judgment, and ability to leverage data in service of telling the right story, not the other way around

  • Great balance of being collaborative and open to alternative views while being decisive and clearly communicating vision

  • An eagerness to seek feedback and improve

What We Offer

  • Meaningful Impact: Enjoy the opportunity to make a significant difference in our business, when it matters most - as we launch big bets that shape our future.

Please note that travel to the CA offices will be required for remote team members for key meetings as needed and occasional leadership and/or team gatherings.
