Description

The Digital Marketing Coordinator works closely with the Design and Communications Manager and Digital Content Producer to tell the Garden's story on its website and social media platforms through thoughtfully crafted copy and visual media. 


This position is critical to connecting people with plants in new and creative ways, a cornerstone of the Garden's mission. As one of the nation's premier botanical gardens, we're looking for curious, motivated, passionate candidates who can take our online presence to the next level through this vital digital work.


The ideal applicant is an excellent creative copywriter, visual storyteller or brand-focused content creator with some experience managing the copy and images on a website powered by WordPress or similar CMS. 


A portfolio that includes copy and photography/video created for social media is a mandatory component of the application process. Provide a PDF or web link in with your application for consideration.


Key Responsibilities


Social Content and Copy - In collaboration with the Digital Content Producer, the Digital Content Coordinator is responsible for publishing a robust social media schedule across the Garden's platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Tiktok

  • Create compelling media - Document and/or live-stream public events, parties, lectures and more for use on the Garden's website, social platforms and beyond, often beyond typical office hours. Independently and collaboratively seek unique opportunities to translate the Garden's mission through content that leverages everchanging social trends for increased engagement across diverse audiences
  • Share the Garden's message - Research, write, edit, schedule and publish content for gardens in Atlanta and Gainesville, ensuring Garden platforms align with internal and external calendars
  • Interact with online audiences - Surprise and delight digital audiences with excellent customer service interactions publicly and privately on the Garden's social media and review platforms, often beyond typical office hours
  • Track your success - Collaborate with Digital Marketing Producer to monitor and report social media content performance, engagement and interactions with guests on the Garden's social media and review platforms

Website - In collaboration with the Digital Content Producer, the Digital Content Coordinator is responsible for developing and maintaining content for the Garden's website in a fast-paced environment

  • Independent improvements - Using Garden calendars and publications, independently seek opportunities to update and optimize website promotional content with a focus on marketing and guest experience goals. Maintain the website's overall structure, navigation and performance

Directed maintenance - Fulfill and proofread website edit requests from all Garden departments with high-level organizational standards and goals

Requirements

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in mass communication, journalism, public relations, multimedia reporting, telecommunications, media and entertainment, traditional/digital marketing, English or creative writing
  • 1-3 years' experience producing branded digital media with an emphasis on copywriting and photography/videography for advertising, corporate communications, public relations, marketing or education goals

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Impeccable written and verbal communication skills; strong attention to detail
  • Familiarity with writing and editing in Associated Press Style
  • Cross-platform social media content management and reporting (Sprout, Hootsuite, Meta Business Suite, etc.)
  • Intermediate iPhone video production, photography and storytelling: directing, shooting, interviewing, editing, uploading and managing media, gimbals, mics and other standards tools
  • Direct experience with Adobe Photoshop, iPhone and iOS, and mobile media editing software (Capcut, Tiktok in-app tools, etc.) and understanding of media management including uploading, downloading and sharing from iPhone and DSLRs
  • Comfort and confidence appearing on camera and in voiceovers for widely published content
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously with the appropriate sense of urgency
  • Ability to learn new technologies and translate value to stakeholders

Preferred Experience

  • WordPress (or similar CMS), Google Analytics and basic knowledge of HTML
  • FAA-compliant drone operation
  • Edelkrone slider operation
  • Multi-source live streaming to multiple platforms via OBS
