Job description

POSITION OVERVIEW


Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications in the Office for Institutional Advancement, the Digital Content Associate assists with content development and execution across the Institution’s myriad digital communications platforms, including Westminster.net, the Wildcat Web portal system, and all social media channels. A creative and innovative storyteller within the Communications team, the Digital Content Associate develops dynamic content through videography, photography, and the written word for all digital channels to deepen engagement with key constituent groups and advance the Institution’s marketing and communications objectives. This role, working in a fast-paced environment, requires a blend of technical expertise and creative agility to elevate the School’s digital presence and deepen constituent engagement.

Supervisor: Director of Marketing & Communications

Supervisory Responsibilities:  None

Position Status:  Salaried, Non-Exempt, Full-time, Regular, 12-month

Hours of Work: Monday through Friday; core hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.  Eligible for Remote Work Arrangement.


REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, Graphic Design, or a similar discipline
  • Two or more years of experience in marketing, PR, and/or communications.
  • Demonstrated expertise in social media content generation, videography, and photography 
  • Demonstrated ability to produce clear, engaging, and audience-centered written communications across a variety of formats.
  • Proficient in the use of DSLR cameras for video and still photography, and has experience using  microphones, tripods, gimbals, and other photography and videography tools
  • Proficient with various social media platforms and monitoring tools, as well as experience working with content management systems
  • Familiarity with SEO, content repurpose strategies, and digital trends
  • Effective communicator with exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills that reflect the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly, meeting tight deadlines with excellent attention to detail

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Embrace the mission and strategic priorities of Westminster
  • Assists with writing, design, scheduling, and editing content across all digital communications platforms, including the School’s websites and social media channels
  • Assists with monitoring  social channels, responding to inquiries, and escalating issues when needed
  • Helps analyze the effectiveness of digital media efforts through best practice metrics and analytics, and makes data-driven recommendations in order to optimize strategy
  • Supports Marketing and Communications colleagues with photography and videography coverage, writing, editing, and other needs
  • Provides assistance with the Marketing and Communications team’s photography operations
  • Provides support to the Assistant Director of Digital and Visual Media on the production of video and multimedia projects 
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in professional development opportunities and reading professional publications while making thoughtful recommendations for the implementation of new social and digital platforms
  • Performs other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT


While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, and feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl; talk and hear; engage in moderately strenuous physical activity both indoors and out. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 30 pounds. Specific visual abilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The ability to become certified in CPR, AED, and First Aid is required.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee may occasionally be exposed to outside weather conditions and frequently walk on slippery or uneven surfaces.  The noise level in the work environment is often loud.

TRAVEL


Travel is primarily local during the regular business day.  Overnight and out-of-area travel may also be required, primarily for planned events, conferences, and professional development opportunities.

Driving a Westminster vehicle may be required for this position.
