Join Kellogg Community Credit Union as a Consumer Underwriter at our Second St. branch!


As the Consumer Underwriter, you will be responsible for assessing the creditworthiness of loan applicants and making decisions to approve or deny a variety of consumer loan applications with considerable loan authority. You will analyze financial and credit information provided by applicants to determine their ability to repay the loan in addition to promoting credit union products and services.

Requirements

  • Review consumer and indirect loan requests and recommend approval or denial
  • Determine appropriate loan amount, interest rate, and terms based on the applicant's credit worthiness
  • Calculate income and personal and business tax returns
  • Identify collateral needs and payment plans for members applying for loans and assist in compliance and interpretation of supporting documentation
  • Handle loans of complexity, value, and risk.
  • Communicate with loan officers to resolve questions regarding applicant information, collateral information, loan decision, and prepare files for closing
  • Keep current on industry trends, regulatory changes, consumer loan guidelines, and best practices in consumer lending.
  • Collaborate on rate changes as needed
  • Ensure that all Credit Union policies and procedures are in place and followed, advise on compliance and documentation issues.
  • Create and maintain a courteous and professional relationship with internal and external members

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • One to Three years similar or related experience with a proven track record of handling complex cases
  • Ability to review and analyze personal and business tax returns
  • Ability to analyze consumer credit reports
  • Knowledge of consumer lending regulations, terms and practices preferred
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to assess risk effectively
  • Strong computer skills including the Microsoft Suite
  • Strong attention to detail, and excellent time management skills
  • Effective communication skills, written and oral
  • Ability to interact with others on a regular basis and build relationships


This position requires extended hours during the week and on Saturdays, KCCU offers flexibility in scheduling to ensure extended hours are covered.
