A consumer loan officer reviews and assesses loan applications at a commercial bank or other financial institution. As a consumer loan officer, your duties are to figure out whether a client is eligible for a mortgage or personal loan, what their current assets and risks are, and connect them with the appropriate lenders to help facilitate the loan process. You perform personal interviews with applicants, research different lenders, and help your customers choose a good loan. Your responsibilities also include administrative functions, such as record keeping, billing and payment operations, and customer service.
