Consultants are professionals who provide expert advice and guidance to organizations or individuals in a specific field. They analyze problems, develop solutions, and help clients improve their performance or achieve specific goals. Consultants may work independently or as part of a consulting firm, and their work often involves assessing business processes, recommending improvements, and helping implement changes. They are valued for their specialized knowledge and ability to offer objective, external perspectives.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a consultant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Consultant, you need strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and industry-specific knowledge, often supported by a relevant degree or professional experience. Familiarity with project management tools, data analysis software, and sometimes certifications like PMP or Six Sigma is highly valuable. Exceptional communication, adaptability, and client management skills help consultants build trust and deliver tailored solutions. These skills are crucial for effectively diagnosing client needs, developing actionable strategies, and ensuring successful project outcomes.

How do consultants typically balance multiple client projects and ensure effective communication with stakeholders?

Consultants often juggle several client projects simultaneously, which requires strong organizational and time management skills. They usually rely on structured project management tools and regular check-ins to track progress and prioritize tasks. Collaborative platforms and proactive outreach help consultants quickly address issues and maintain strong client relationships throughout each engagement.

About Alta Vista Technology

Alta Vista Technology is a nationally recognized consulting firm helping businesses leverage cloud-based solutions to drive growth, scalability, and operational efficiency. We are proud partners of leading software providers like Sage Intacct, Microsoft, and strategic ISVs. Our collaborative, innovative culture empowers our team to serve clients with excellence—and have fun doing it.

Position Summary

As a CRE Consultant, you will work directly with clients to implement new systems, add-on modules, and provide ongoing support. You will ensure that all engagements stay within scope, on budget, and are executed with excellence. This role goes beyond client service - you'll be a process champion and a trusted advisor to both internal teams and clients.

What You'll Do
  • Lead and manage Sage Intacct Construction implementations and module add-ons with minimal oversight.
  • Provide timely client support — resolving or escalating support cases within 24 hours.
  • Maintain at least 70% billable utilization by efficiently managing time and client expectations.
  • Offer strategic insights to clients on new functionality, helping them plan for the future.
  • Document activities clearly and thoroughly on timecards to avoid billing disputes.
  • Mentor and guide junior consultants through leveling chats, group discussions, and project support.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and fellow consultants to ensure accurate project plans and timely task completion.
  • Identify out-of-scope items, assist with change order creation, and elevate issues as needed.
  • Maintain advanced certification in key Sage Intacct modules, including Construction and SCM.
What We’re Looking For
  • 3+ years of hands-on Sage Intacct experience, including project implementation and support.
  • Advanced certification in CRE and SCM.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple client engagements independently.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience mentoring or leading teams in a consulting environment.
  • Accounting experience in the construction field.
Nice to Have
  • Experience in mid-sized to enterprise-level consulting firms.
  • Project management certification or equivalent experience.
  • Prior experience with publisher escalation processes.
