Job description

About Morning Consult:
Morning Consult is a global decision intelligence company changing how modern leaders make smarter, faster, better decisions. The company pairs its proprietary high-frequency data with rigorous analysis to better inform decisions on what people think and how they will act.
This role is available in any of our office locations (Washington, DC; New York, NY; Chicago, IL) or can be based remotely.
Our award-winning and modern, open concept offices are located in Washington, DC, Chicago, IL and New York, NY. All three offices are accessible by public transportation and in close proximity to great restaurants and shopping.
Join us in the office for catered lunch on Tuesdays and Wednesdays or grab a beverage from the fridge for an impromptu after-work happy hour!
About The Role:
Morning Consult is hiring passionate, experienced sales professionals who are comfortable with research and insights solutions to accelerate an ambitious growth agenda. We are looking for those with excellent listening, communication and problem-solving skills to effectively apply our cutting-edge SaaS or our custom market research products and services to a range of client needs.
Success in this role requires familiarity with custom research and ability to lead consultative engagement with Heads of Brand, Insights, Marketing, and C-Suite at leading companies.
Note: This is an evergreen role, meaning we keep it open on a rolling basis as we continuously look for great talent. Due to the volume of applications we receive, we may not be able to respond to everyone individually if there isn't a current opening that fits your background. That said, we encourage you to apply! We review applications regularly and will reach out when a role comes up that's a strong match.
The Solution Sales Team at Morning Consult:
The Solution Sales Team is part of the Commercial Division at Morning Consult. We build key relationships, think strategically about the issues clients and prospects are facing and help clients apply custom data and analytic solutions to solve problems and make quicker, more effective decisions. We aim to drive sustainable, scalable growth across our entire business portfolio in close partnership with Research, Data Operations, SaaS Sales, Customer Success and broader Commercial division teammates.
What You'll Be Working On:
  • Achieving pipeline and growth targets for 10-20 assigned Fortune 500 clients through maintenance of existing business, sales of new solutions and programs to existing buyers, and through uncovering and effectively selling to new buyers within each assigned client
  • Owning the sales cycle from start to finish, from identifying contacts to outreach, qualifying leads, running discovery meetings, spearheading proposal and RFP processes, managing paperwork and procurement processes and closing and managing post-close relationships alongside the Research team and relevant Commercial partners
  • Being responsible for excellent sales progress reporting and hygiene, including weekly logging of sales activity, updating stages based on Morning Consult sales methodology, accurate pipeline and forecasting updates, accurate input of contracts into a CRM platform and consistent adherence to selling rules
  • Partnering with Finance and Legal teams to secure fair and optimal contract terms per Morning Consult selling guidelines and effectively liaise with and connect relevant internal and external parties on any client needs relating to contract changes, requirements or payment terms
  • Serving as a productive, collaborative partner to Sales leadership, Commercial support teams and other organizational partners to contribute to Objectives and Key Results and embody and deliver on Morning Consult values
  • Continuously improving through feedback
  • Serving as a professional, knowledgeable, and respected ambassador of Morning Consult through virtual and in-person engagements with clients and prospects, including strategy sessions, introductory meetings and events with MC executives, industry events and more
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of time
  • Perform such other tasks and duties as may be required or assigned from time to time in the Company's discretion

About You and What You've Done:
  • 10+ years of enterprise sales experience with custom solutions and consultative services; experience at a data or market research firm is a plus
  • Proven track record of success, quota attainment and growth, ideally with multi-million-dollar deals
  • Ability to lead consultative sales cycle including developing, proposing, and closing complex custom research solutions
  • Familiarity with corporate marketing, communications, insights and/or brand functions, particularly at global and/or matrixed organizations
  • Intellectual curiosity; ability to synthesize data and articulate insights based on audience
  • Knowledge and interest in marketing, communications, data, and brand reputation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to build rapport quickly with technical and non-technical audiences alike
  • Strong collaboration skills; comfortable working across departments and job levels
  • BS/BA or equivalent
  • Willing to take feedback, learn and grow; an ethos of continuous self-improvement

Note: We view the above section as a guide, not a checklist. Research shows that underrepresented/marginalized groups are less likely to apply for a job if they feel that they don't meet 100% of the qualifications. We welcome diverse and non-traditional backgrounds and encourage you to apply even if you don't satisfy every single bullet on this list! It's expected that you'll learn and grow throughout your time at Morning Consult, so if you're open to building new skills, we'd love to hear from you.
The expected salary range for this position is $124,900 - $205,500, with a midpoint of $165,200.
In most cases, we target the midpoint of our salary ranges for new hire compensation. This placement is reflective of full proficiency in a role. This role is eligible for additional variable compensation and an equity grant, which will be discussed in your initial recruiter conversation. Please see an overview of Morning Consult's benefits on our Career Page.
We are committed to a work environment that is inclusive to all and free of discrimination. It is our policy to be an equal opportunity employer without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, genetic predisposition or carrier status, veteran status, citizenship status or any other factors prohibited by law.
