Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Project Engineer to join our team and play a crucial role in delivering exceptional construction projects.
The Project Engineer serves as a key technical and administrative resource on active construction projects. Working alongside Project Managers and Superintendents, the Project Engineer is responsible for supporting project execution through document control, subcontractor coordination, schedule tracking, and quality assurance. This role is ideal for a motivated individual seeking hands-on experience across all phases of construction. The candidate would bring a strategic mindset with excellent aptitude to support operational workflows, a drive to maintain client satisfaction, and a team-oriented mindset within a growing construction company.
Job duties:
Manage and maintain project documentation including RFIs, submittals, change orders, and meeting minutes.
Track and log all submittals and shop drawings; coordinate review and approval with design team.
Assist with the preparation and maintenance of project schedules using Microsoft Project and Autodesk Forma.
Maintain organized project files and ensure document control procedures are followed.
Coordinate daily activities with the J&L Project Manager and Superintendent to ensure work is proceeding per schedule.
Conduct regular field walks to monitor work quality and verify compliance with project drawings and specifications.
Identify and communicate potential schedule delays, conflicts, or quality issues to the Project Manager.
Support safety compliance by participating in jobsite safety meetings and reporting incidents or near-misses.
Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
Assist with quantity takeoffs and material procurement as directed.
Support project closeout activities including punch list management, as-built documentation, and O&M manual assembly.
Work schedule: Full-time salary, may require weekend and shift work depending upon project requirements.
Work Location: Onsite in construction trailer and/or in Rocklin, CA main office.
Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
03 years of construction industry experience (internship experience accepted).
Working knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Experience with construction related software. Software currently utilized are: Word, Excel, Outlook, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, Autodesk Forma (ACC), Building Connected.
Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Ability to multitask.
Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills.
Commitment to safety and quality standards.
Strong attention to detail and a proactive mindset.
Familiarity with OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 safety certification.
Experience with commercial, institutional, or industrial construction projects.
Physical requirements: Must be able to lift and carry at least 50 pounds.
Travel requirements: must have a valid drivers license. Travel based on jobsite locations within the surrounding Sacramento Valley Region.
