Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Construction Assistant Project Manager specializing in Public Works, Education and infrastructure projects. In this vital role, Assistant Project Manager works closely with Project Managers and Superintendents to help plan, coordinate, and deliver construction projects on time and within budget. This role bridges office and field operations, supporting project documentation, communication, scheduling, and subcontractor coordination.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist Project Managers with estimating, bid preparation, and proposal support.
  • Maintain cost control ledger and job cost statements
  • Prepare billings and expedite payments
  • Estimate, prepare and negotiate Change Orders
  • Write subcontract Change Orders
  • Maintain and update project documentation such as RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, and closeout materials.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, clients, and subcontractors to ensure timely responses and workflow.
  • Support scheduling and monitor progress against deadlines.
  • Assist with budget tracking, invoice reviews, and cost reports.
  • Participate in jobsite visits and help ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Prepare bid packages and solicit and evaluate bids
  • Write project procedures
  • Review plans for completeness and accuracy
  • Prepare Purchase Orders and Rental Agreements
  • Supervise and train Project Engineers and clerical staff
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned
  • Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Thorough understanding of plans and specifications
  • Field experience (Project Engineer or Assistant Superintendent)
  • Effective written and verbal communications skills and organizational skills
  • 3 4 years construction experience
  • 1+ years scheduling and estimating experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and basic project management software (Procore, Buildertrend, etc.)
  • Willingness to learn and grow into a Project Manager role.
