Job description

We are seeking an ambitious Assistant Superintendentwho is eager to gain hands-on experience across a variety of projects, structural systems, and management styles. This role offers an incredible opportunity for growth-helping you develop the skills to lead and execute top-tier construction projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
As part of our collaborative team, you'll play a key role in ensuring job site safety, maintaining excellence, and maximizing productivity-all while upholding the values that make Walsh Construction Co. a leader in the industry.
Responsibilities include:
  • Assist the Superintendent in the day-to-day functions of running a construction project. All duties will be assigned at the discretion of the Superintendent.
  • Be a jobsite leader in safety; watch for safety hazards, do daily safety jobsite walkthroughs, make sure needed corrections are made.
  • Administer Monday Morning safety meeting as instructed.
  • Assist Trade Superintendent with managing direct labor.
  • Assist with review of plans and specifications.
  • Place orders for temporary facilities and/or equipment as instructed.
  • Verify/obtain necessary permits as instructed.
  • Read all and have a thorough understanding of subcontracts and supply agreements.
  • Stay aware of all critical schedule activities and lead items as they change during the course of construction.
  • Assist with the preparation of short interval schedules.
  • Hold weekly foreman coordination meetings as instructed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Assist with training Project Engineers.

Additional responsibilities include:
  • Assist with training Project Engineers.
  • Assist with review and approval of weekly timecards as needed.
  • Assist with review and approval of invoices- accurately code expenses.
  • Prepare/process/track jobsite RFI's.
  • Process/track all shop drawings and submittals.
  • Maintain and organize all jobsite records/documentation.
  • Assist in the management of Walsh and subcontractor quality control.
  • Hold product pre-installation meetings with all respective parties as instructed.
  • Confirm that all long lead-time materials are ordered and confirm delivery dates as instructed.
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of superintendent daily reports.
  • Manage punch process onsite with owner and/or architect. Distribute and track punch items to ensure completion.
  • Maintain the as-built drawings; prepare for submission upon completion.
  • Assist with developing, organizing and maintaining project closeout documents and owner training videos.
  • Perform other related duties as described in the Project Engineer job description.
  • Management of the jobsite in the absence of the assigned jobsite Superintendent.

Qualifications include:
  • Possess skills and leadership ability in time management, teamwork, organization and problem solving.
  • Ability to lead by example, using Walsh Values as a guide.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in and lead project teams.
  • Ability to identify, mediate, resolve or elevate conflicts on the jobsite, as needed.
  • Ability to read plans and understand specifications.
  • Use discretion with confidential/sensitive information.
  • Working knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams), and Bluebeam Revu.

Salary range $105,000 to $125,000 annually.
