Position Overview-

The Apprentice Epic Clinical Analyst is an entry-level role designed to provide hands-on experience in supporting the implementation, configuration, and maintenance of Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) applications. Under the guidance of experienced analysts, this position will assist in system build, testing, and end-user support while learning the fundamentals of healthcare workflows and Epic functionality. This is a 12-month Program.


Essential Duties

  • Assist with Epic Configuration: Support customization and configuration of Epic applications to meet organizational needs.
  • Workflow Analysis: Observe and document clinical and administrative workflows to understand system requirements.
  • Testing & Validation: Participate in testing new builds, upgrades, and patches to ensure accuracy and functionality.
  • End-User Support: Help troubleshoot basic issues and escalate complex problems to experienced analysts.
  • Training Support: Assist in creating user guides and training materials for member staff.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of system changes, workflows, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with experienced analysts and clinical teams to learn best practices in healthcare IT.
  • Engage in training and development activities to build analytical and technical skills.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements


  • Completion of an OCHIN workforce training program or similar experience (e.g., prior role within OCHIN, member site, or similar organization) preferred.
  • Epic proficiency in Clinical Applications must be obtained within 60-days of employment
  • Interest in data analysis, problem solving and continuous learning.
  • Basic understanding of healthcare operations and EHR systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Strong computer literacy and willingness to learn new tools and systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
  • Prior to moving forward to the team interview, all candidates are required to complete a 50-60-minute competency assessment. The assessment gives us insights into how your strengths, preferences, and work style align with the OCHIN's nine core competencies. It's not about passing or failing-it's about understanding fit and setting you up for success.


Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

  • Constant interpersonal skills, teamwork, and customer service. Frequent creativity, mentoring, presentations/teaching. Occasional decision making and independent judgment or action.
  • Reading, speaking, writing, and understanding English.
  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms.
  • This position requires a virtual home-office environment, working remotely and will require that employees be on camera for all virtual meetings.
  • The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and mobile devices.

Work Location and Travel Requirements

OCHIN is a 100% remote organization with no physical corporate office location. Employees work remotely from home and many of our positions also support our member organizations on-site for new software installations. Nationwide travel is determined based on OCHIN business needs. Please inquire during the interview process about travel requirements for this position. Work from home requirements are:
