Job description

HIRING: Geotechnical Technician / Concrete Inspector

Location: Bear, DE

Type: Full-Time

Industry: Construction Inspection / Geotechnical Engineering

Overview

We are seeking a Geotechnical Technician / Inspector to support construction projects through field inspections, materials testing, and quality assurance activities. This role is ideal for candidates who enjoy working outdoors, traveling to active construction sites, and playing a critical role in ensuring projects meet engineering specifications and industry standards.

This is a field-based opportunity supporting geotechnical investigations, earthwork monitoring, construction materials testing, and special inspections throughout the region.

Responsibilities
  • Perform geotechnical inspections and testing during construction projects
  • Conduct soil density testing using a nuclear density gauge
  • Inspect earthwork, foundations, subgrades, and site preparation activities
  • Perform concrete testing, rebar inspections, pre-slab inspections, and masonry inspections
  • Complete structural steel bolted and welded connection inspections
  • Conduct road construction inspections and testing
  • Prepare detailed daily field reports and documentation
  • Perform laboratory testing on soil and concrete samples in accordance with ASTM standards
  • Coordinate with project teams, contractors, and office personnel
  • Travel daily between construction sites and office locations as required
Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of experience in construction inspection, geotechnical testing, or related field services
  • Experience with:
    • Soil density testing
    • Earthwork inspection
    • Foundation and subgrade inspections
    • Concrete testing
    • Roadway construction inspection
  • Experience preparing field reports and project documentation
  • Valid driver's license
  • Nuclear Gauge Safety Training Certification, or ability to obtain shortly after hire
  • ACI Concrete Testing Certification, or ability to obtain shortly after hire
Preferred Experience
  • Construction materials testing (CMT)
  • Geotechnical laboratory testing
  • Special inspections
  • Structural steel inspections
  • Working with ASTM testing standards
  • Field-based QA/QC programs
Work Environment
  • Primarily field-based position
  • Daily travel to active construction sites
  • Outdoor work in varying weather conditions year-round
  • Ability to lift and move equipment up to 40 pounds
  • Opportunity to work on a wide variety of construction and infrastructure projects

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bear, DE.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $45.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
