Job description

The Concrete Science group at Braun Intertec is looking for a technician to join our Bloomington, MN materials lab team. Duties will include concrete materials batching & testing, chemical testing on cementitious materials, physical testing of cementitious products and concrete materials, as well as helping with sample preparation on petrographic projects.
Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and perform testing in the concrete batching laboratory
  • Durability testing on concrete products
  • Conduct technical work on laboratory projects with oversight of senior staff
  • Perform various chemical tests on cementitious materials and mortars
  • Perform various mortar tests on cementitious materials.
  • Prepare samples for petrographic analysis by making petrographic thin sections, and sample cutting and polishing
  • Maintain well organized laboratory and project timelines.
  • Willing and able to learn new methods and techniques for testing cementitious materials.
  • Ability to move from task to task efficiently and effectively.

Required Skills and Experience:
  • 0 - 2 years of work experience in the aggregates, concrete or cement industry
  • A safety first attitude
  • Ability to conduct technical laboratory work and follow standard testing procedures such as ACI and/or ASTM
  • A demonstrated ability to learn and apply technical concepts
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Microsoft Office 365 experience
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • A High School diploma or equivalent

Compensation Range:
