Position Summary
The Nutrition Technician will be responsible for assisting patients with meal selections both in person and over the phone. Additionally, this position will educate patients on their diet and ensure that they follow their diet order(s). The Nutrition Technician organizes and arranges various aspects of our meal service and works closely with the Registered Dietitians and Registered Diet Technicians.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job
1. Coordinate and perform patient menu selection and correction for meals and nourishments via Call
Center, processing selections and meal production tickets via Computrition.
2. Receive calls to input menu selections into Computrition consistent with Diet Order in Epic.
3. Communicate with Dietitians or Diet Technicians regarding patients needing review of menu selections
to ensure nutritional adequacy when needed.
4. Communicate with Kitchen production staff and Room Service Hosts regarding special requests.
5. Perform Computrition, Epic and Outlook and other computer applications used in the department.
6. Assist Room Service Hosts, Food Service Workers and Nutrition Technicians as needed; will be crosstrained
and may be scheduled for full shifts in other areas within department.
7. Acquire and maintain current nutrition knowledge.
8. Address the age specific needs of all populations served.
9. Incumbents with Diet Technicians Registered (DTR) status may assist Clinical Diet Technician as
assigned.
10. Ability to be at work and be on time.
11. Ability to follow company policies, procedures and directives.
12. Ability to interact in a positive and constructive manner.
13. Ability to prioritize and multitask.
*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. Qualifications
Qualifications/Work Experience:
  • Recent experience in an acute care hospital food service department and/or call center setting preferred.
  • Excellent organization and prioritization skills necessary.
  • Basic computer proficiency skills.

Education/Licensure/Certification:
  • College degree in Nutrition or related field preferred.
  • Registered Dietetic Technician (DTR) certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic diets, medical terminology and abbreviations preferred.
