The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service.

The School of Nursing APRN delivers care aligned with a defined scope of practice in 1344 maximum clinical hours in the Nurse Midwifery service, with work expectations operationalized through departmental workflows, productivity standards, and performance expectations consistent with the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) and institutional policies.

This role is structured to meet contract-defined work expectations of 258 annual ambulatory sessions for 0.75 FTE, inclusive of daytime coverage, aligned with the clinical coverage model and patient care needs of the service.

The Certified Nurse-Midwife will participate in departmental scheduling processes, including daytime coverage, with scheduling practices aligned to contract provisions, equitable distribution of coverage, and maintenance of safe, consistent clinical operations.

 

This position reports to (supervisor): Practice Manager, Marquam Hill


Clinical Activities (not assigned administrative, education, or research FTE):

Faculty Activities (service, scholarship, and research):

  • Clinical APP faculty have an expectation of advancement and activities consistent with faculty pursuits standard work.
  • Faculty pursuit opportunities specific to position:
    • OB/GYN and Nurse-Midwifery Grand Rounds, participation in OHSU Nurse-Midwifery Program activities 
    • Participates in faculty governance;additionalengagement based on rank

Other Activities (not covered above):

  • All APPs are expected to support the clinical, education, and research mission of OHSU through routine clinical care that includes working with students, trainees, and patients participating in research, consistent with their role, scope of practice, and applicable contract and institutional policies.

Education (Degree dependent on academic program type and rank of position.):

  • Instructor: MSN or equivalent
  • Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor: PhD/DNP or equivalent

Registrations, Certifications and/or Licenses (Current licensure & certifications could be required depending on position and academic program.):

  • Current RN and APRN licensure with the Oregon Board of Nursing.
  • Current AMCB/ACNM national certification
  • Current BLS
  • DEA Certification.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification

Experience (Experience dependent on academic program type and rank of position.):

  • 2 years full-scope midwifery experience in hospital setting preferred

Union Representation: This position is represented by the Oregon Nurses Association - Advance Practice United (ONA-APU), subject to the active Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

Working Conditions:

  • Frequent Interruptions in an environment of frequent changes and fluctuations

Physical Demands and Equipment Usage:

  • Standing: On concrete, vinyl, or carpeting up to 4 hours per day and intermittently 
  • Sitting: Chair or stool continuous up to 8 hours per day and intermittently

  • Walking: Intermittently up to 4 hours per day on concrete, vinyl, and carpeting 
  • Carrying: Up to 50 pounds (supplies, equipment, books, papers,etc.) for intermittent periods and distances. 
  • Lifting: Up to 50 pounds (patients, equipment, supplies, books,etc.) Intermittent throughout the day 
  • Pushing/Pulling: Up to 100 pounds, intermittent, throughout the day 
  • Bending: From the waist and knees,frequentlythroughout the day 
  • Reaching/Handling: Fine manipulation, repetitive, gross motor requiring full ROM in upperextremities, 
  • including overhead reaching. 
  • Twisting: All ROMrequired, intermittent periods, throughout the day 
  • Climbing: Staircase, intermittently throughout the day
