Job summary:

The sample Pick-Up Driver / Lab Technician is responsible for retrieving geotechnical test samples from multiple job sites and delivering them promptly to the designated laboratory. This role requires a strong sense of time management and reliability to ensure samples are transported efficiently and secure. When not performing pick-ups, the individual will assist in field equipment operations. The ideal candidate is eager to learn field operation procedures, works well independently and in a team, and maintain a high standard of accuracy and productivity.

Duties:

  • Drive to various job sites to pick up samples and deliver them to the appropriate laboratory in a timely and secure manner
  • Maintain accurate of sample pick-ups and delivery. including chain-of-custody documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with field staff and lab personnel to coordinate pick-up schedules and ensure sample integrity.
  • Assist in field operations when not performing pick-ups, including equipment preparation, calibrations, and data entry.
  • Follow all safety protocols and company procedures during transportation and field operations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the company vehicle and workspace.
  • Participate in training to learn calibration, nuclear gauge operations and procedures.
  • Support the lab team with additional task as needed to ensure efficient workflow and timely reporting.

Education/Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driverโ€™s License with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Willingness to learn field operations procedures and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and communication
  • Previous experience in driving, courier services, or field operations in construction work is a plus but not required

Certifications/License:

  • Valid California Driver's License
  • Any relevant hazardous materials handling certifications (preferred but not required).
  • Willingness to obtain additional certifications as needed for field, lab or transportation duties
