The Impact You'll Make in this Role

As a(n) The Workstation and Client Architect, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. In this role, you lead and ensure a secure, standardized, and scalable Windows client environment across the enterprise as part of the 3M IT End User Computing (EUC) organization.

  • You determine and own the client architecture for workstation platforms, endpoint management, and security controls, implementing solutions that reduce complexity, risk, and operational cost. By determining and aligning workstation strategy with enterprise architecture and security standards, you strengthen compliance and audit readiness.
  • You lead close collaboration with security, infrastructure, operations, and application teams to ensure integrated, consistent, and enterpriseready solutions. You lead the definition and implementation of client technology strategies, standards, and roadmaps, proactively modernizing the client environment. You support and guide engineering and operations teams with architectural expertise, improving delivery quality, resilience, and reliability.
  • Overall, you play an essential role in protecting the enterprise, supporting digital workplace initiatives, and maximizing the return on investment in client platforms and security capabilities.

    Your Skills and Expertise

    To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree or higher in Information Technology(completed and verified prior to start)and five (5) years' experience in Information Technology in a manufacturing, private, public, government, or military environment

    OR

    • High School Diploma/GED (completed and verified prior to start) and ten (10) years' experience in Information Technology in a manufacturing, private, public, government, or military environment

    Work location:

    • This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Center in Maplewood, MN.
    • This position has the possibility for remote work for candidates located more than 50-miles from to 3M Global Headquarters in St. Paul, MN. Employees located within a commutable distance to 3M Global Headquarters must work on-site at least 4 days per week.

    Travel: May include up to 5%

    Relocation: May be authorized

    Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
