Job description

We are looking for a Benefits & Compensation Manager to own and manage two important areas of our HR function: employee benefits and compensation.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role with functional ownership of benefits and compensation; there are no direct reports. We are looking for someone who enjoys being the subject matter expert, can independently manage programs and processes, and is comfortable digging into data while also providing a high level of support to employees and leaders.

What You Will Do:

Benefits

  • Own the day-to-day administration of our employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, retirement, wellness, and voluntary benefits.

  • Manage the benefits lifecycle from new hire enrollment through benefit changes, terminations, and COBRA.

  • Lead annual open enrollment, including planning, system configuration, employee communications, enrollment, and data validation.

  • Partner with the VP of HR on benefit strategy, plan design, vendor evaluation, and recommendations for future benefit offerings.

  • Manage relationships with benefit brokers and vendors and help resolve employee benefit and coverage issues.

  • Oversee benefit deductions, insurance billing, audits, and required regulatory reporting.

  • Serve as a trusted resource for employees and leaders on benefit programs and processes.

Compensation

  • Manage and maintain compensation data and structures, including salary grades, ranges, job codes, market matches, and external market data.

  • Conduct market pricing and job evaluations to support appropriate placement of positions within our salary grade structure.

  • Manage participation in compensation surveys and keep market data and job matches current.

  • Analyze compensation data, including market positioning, compa-ratios, range penetration, compression, and other pay trends.

  • Conduct pay equity, adverse impact, and other compensation-related compliance analyses.

  • Support annual compensation planning and salary structure reviews.

  • Provide data, analysis, and recommendations to HR leadership to support consistent and informed compensation decisions.

What We're Looking For:

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in benefits, compensation, or a related HR role.

  • Strong benefits administration experience, including open enrollment, employee enrollment, benefit terminations, and COBRA.

  • Experience working with compensation market data, salary surveys, job evaluations, salary structures, and compensation analysis.

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to turn data into meaningful insights and recommendations.

  • Strong project management skills and the ability to independently own recurring programs and processes.

  • Excellent attention to detail and comfort working with sensitive and confidential information.

  • Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills with the ability to partner effectively across HR, Payroll, Finance, leadership, brokers, and vendors.

  • Advanced Excel skills and experience working with HRIS and benefits administration systems.

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field preferred.

The Person Who Will Thrive in This Role:

You don't need a team reporting to you to be a manager. We're looking for someone who takes ownership, knows their area of expertise, and makes sure things get done.

You'll be successful in this role if you can balance employee service with strong analytical skills. You should be equally comfortable helping an employee understand a benefit issue, leading open enrollment, reviewing market data for a position, and analyzing compensation trends.

You'll have room to independently manage these programs while partnering closely with HR leadership on strategy and decisions. The right person will bring curiosity, sound judgment, attention to detail, and a desire to continuously improve how we approach benefits and compensation.
