Job description
Uncommon Schools is a nonprofit network of high-performing public charter schools dedicated to providing an exceptional K-12 education in economically disadvantaged communities. At Uncommon Schools, enrollment is about building strong relationships with families and ensuring every student has access to an excellent education. The Associate Manager of Enrollment plays a key role in growing student enrollment across Rochester by connecting with families, community organizations, and local partners while supporting a seamless enrollment experience from first inquiry through registration. This role combines community engagement, data-informed decision-making, and project coordination to help meet regional enrollment goals. Working closely with the Rochester Enrollment team and school partners, the Associate Manager helps ensure prospective families receive timely, responsive support throughout the enrollment process.
Responsibilities
Community Outreach & Partnership Development

- Represent Uncommon Schools at community events and serve as a knowledgeable resource for prospective families.
Family Engagement & Enrollment Conversion
- Plan and facilitate family information sessions, school tours, open houses, and other events for prospective families.
- Develop and implement follow-up plans that help families move from initial interest to application and enrollment.
- Communicate regularly with prospective families, answer questions, and help address barriers to enrollment.
- Monitor lead conversion metrics and recommend adjustments that strengthen recruitment and enrollment outcomes.
Enrollment Operations
- Support the execution of regional recruitment and enrollment plans using data to identify community and school needs.
- Manage prospective student applications, enrollment paperwork, and family communications throughout the enrollment process.
- Maintain accurate records and follow up with families to obtain missing documentation.
- Support annual lottery preparation, lottery execution, and ongoing waitlist management.
- Assist with additional enrollment projects and initiatives that support Rochester schools.
Data & Continuous Improvement
- Track outreach, recruitment, and enrollment performance using enrollment systems and reporting tools.
- Monitor key performance indicators and maintain accurate data entry.
- Analyze outreach and enrollment results to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Recommend adjustments to recruitment strategies and resource allocation based on data and outcomes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with school teams and regional colleagues to coordinate enrollment efforts.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure prospective families receive a consistent experience throughout the enrollment process.
- Contribute to cross-functional projects that improve enrollment processes and family engagement.
Required Qualifications

- 3-4 years of relevant experience in enrollment, admissions, family engagement, community outreach, customer service, recruitment, or a related field.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and common productivity tools such as Outlook and Google Drive.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in K-12 education or a mission-driven organization.
- Experience using student enrollment or customer relationship management systems such as SchoolMint.
- Experience supporting recruitment, enrollment, admissions, or community engagement initiatives.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods during community outreach and events.
