Brilliant Detroit Overview
In 2015 Brilliant Detroit was created to provide a radically new approach to kindergarten readiness in neighborhoods. The idea was to create a unique delivery model in our approach to early childhood development by using underutilized housing stock to create early child and family centers in neighborhoods. Brilliant Detroit homes provide holistic services for kids 0-8 predicated on evidence-based programs around health, family support, and education. Brilliant Detroit was born to create kid success neighborhoods. Today, in each location, neighbors come together for fellowship, activities and learning to assure school readiness, and provide needed support for families.
Job Summary
Brilliant Detroit is seeking a Community Engagement Manager. The Community Engagement Manager is a member of the management team who ensures successful implementation and monitoring of Brilliant Detroit at a neighborhood hub. This position will oversee daily functions of people and activities in assigned neighborhoods.
Responsibilities and Duties
  • Oversee daily operations, including-but not limited to- neighborhood upkeep, staff scheduling, and participant needs
  • Ensure ongoing local program excellence; recommend timelines and resources needed to achieve strategic goals
  • Actively engage with Brilliant Detroit volunteers, community members, committees, partnering organizations, and funders
  • Design and assist with outreach efforts in neighborhood, ensuring successful implementation
  • Maintain familiarity with each partner organization and programming
  • Provide resources and referrals to families within Brilliant Detroit
  • Represent Brilliant Detroit at community meetings
  • Identify current trends and neighborhood families' needs
  • Ensure program data is entered into network database(s)
  • Participate in training and staff development
  • Serve on network committees or work groups
  • Provide logistical support with listening sessions and other meetings as needed
  • Ensure that caregiver, family, and neighborhood voices are represented in all aspects
  • Organize calendar of activities to meet mission goals for the community
  • Develop and enforce Brilliant Detroit's performance standards to maintain quality
  • Conduct orientation and training for staff and volunteer
  • Assist with program development and curriculum implementation
  • Oversee communication between organization and caregivers regarding activities and their child's successes and opportunities
  • Ensure that priorities and needs are clearly communicated and represented to stakeholders
  • Work to identify and overcome barriers to assure the Brilliant Detroit effort advances
  • Ensure that key resources (people, time, materials, funds) are aligned efficiently and effectively
  • Drive decisions with scientifically-based data to inspire high performance and adherence to guidelines
  • Ensure spaces are clean, well-maintained, and organized following programming and events, including performing light cleaning duties and arranging the area for future use.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Management, Early Childhood Education or related field preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience and/or 2 years of experience working in schools or other social service providers
  • Strong understanding of business management and leadership principles
  • Strong, demonstrated technological proficiency with Google Drive, especially Google Sheets
  • One to three years in non-profit or community settings preferred
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and team members around a goal
  • Work with minimal up-front guidance and the ability to take ownership of work product

Work Conditions
  • Ability to work cooperatively with individuals of diverse racial/economic/cultural backgrounds
  • Must be able to to lift and move at least 25 pounds
  • This position may require evening and/or weekend work
  • This position requires the ability to climb stairs and navigate multi-level buildings without elevator access
  • Tasks may involve bending, kneeling, and reaching, particularly when setting up for programs, events or engaging with children.
  • Local travel required, reliable transportation needed. COVID Vaccinated individuals preferred
