Job description

($500 paid at 6 months / $1,000 paid at 1 year) *Must be a new Town employee and meet safety and attendance goals at each 6-month interval* Summary: If you're passionate about fostering inclusive communities where everyone has access to affordable housing and opportunities to thrive, the Town of Chapel Hill is excited to invite you to consider the role of Maintenance Mechanic supporting the Housing and Community Development Department. The Town's Housing and Community Development Department includes four divisions: Public Housing, Affordable Housing, Community Connections, and Administration, which work collaboratively to execute the Town Council's affordable housing and equitable community engagement goals.

The department is committed to fostering an environment where everyone on the team is empowered to lead and achieve results consistent with the Council's goals and the Department's work plan. This position may close without notice Essential Functions Essential Functions: Completes safety inspections and preventative maintenance of public housing units Performs general maintenance of public housing units, including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and appliance repairs as permissible Uses a work order system to track and prioritize maintenance requests and document completion. Provides notice to residents regarding upcoming work.
