Job description

Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Development Assistant for a mission-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening individuals, families, and communities through advocacy, education, and essential support services. This is a full-time, onsite opportunity based in Marquette, Michigan. The role will begin in a hybrid capacity, but will move into an onsite role.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Development Assistant provides administrative and operational support to the organization's fundraising and development efforts.

This role assists with donor stewardship, gift processing, database management, fundraising events, grant support, and donor communications while helping ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the development department.

Working closely with the executive leadership, volunteers, and community partners, the Development Assistant plays an important role in cultivating positive donor experiences and supporting fundraising initiatives that strengthen the organization's mission.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide administrative support for the organization's fundraising and donor engagement activities.
  • Process charitable gifts and acknowledgments while maintaining accurate donor records in the organization's CRM database.
  • Assist with donor stewardship efforts by preparing correspondence, recognition materials, reports, and other donor communications.
  • Coordinate logistics for fundraising events, volunteer activities, donor meetings, and community engagement initiatives.
  • Support grant development by assisting with research, proposal preparation, reporting, and tracking deadlines.
  • Maintain fundraising calendars, donor files, campaign materials, and development reports.
  • Prepare mailing lists, fundraising appeals, newsletters, and other development-related communications.
  • Assist with tracking fundraising metrics, generating reports, and monitoring campaign progress.
  • Collaborate with staff, volunteers, board members, and community partners to support development initiatives and organizational events.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in administrative support, nonprofit development, fundraising, donor relations, customer service, or a related field.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with donor databases, CRM systems, or similar data management software is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Passion for supporting a mission-driven organization and providing exceptional service to donors and community partners.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
