Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Respiratory Therapy Manager (RRT) to lead our Cardiopulmonary / Neurodiagnostic Services team in a community hospital setting. This role is responsible for the overall planning, organization, direction, and evaluation of respiratory therapy services while ensuring the highest standards of patient care and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

Leadership & Operations

  • Provide overall leadership and management of Respiratory Therapy services
  • Plan, organize, and implement departmental goals, services, and strategic initiatives
  • Manage fiscal responsibilities including budgeting, resource allocation, and supply oversight
  • Lead performance improvement and quality assurance initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Oversee all personnel processes including hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance management
  • Effectively communicate departmental goals, expectations, and updates
  • Lead change management efforts and support organizational initiatives
  • Collaborate with all hospital departments as part of the leadership team
  • Provide operational oversight of Respiratory Therapy services, including coverage as needed

Clinical & Program Oversight

  • Provide advanced clinical expertise and guidance in complex patient care situations
  • Ensure best practices in respiratory care, including:
    • Oxygen therapy
    • Bronchodilator therapy
    • Ventilator management and weaning protocols
  • Support staff and physicians in the implementation of evidence-based protocols
  • Maintain competency in clinical skills and provide direct patient care when needed
  • Ensure proper performance of arterial punctures and blood gas analysis with adherence to safety standards

Staff Development & Engagement

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCPs)
  • Establish and maintain staffing plans, including scheduling and workload prioritization
  • Serve as a preceptor and promote ongoing education and professional development
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable team culture

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update departmental policies and procedures
  • Oversee equipment, inventory, and supply chain management, including drug and equipment ordering
  • Participate in interdisciplinary committees and hospital-wide initiatives
  • Ensure readiness for regulatory surveys and audits
Qualifications
  • Minimum of two (2) years of clinical respiratory therapy experience (leadership experience preferred)
  • Able to communicate effectively, pleasantly, cooperatively, and discreetly with patients, physicians, team members, and the general public.
  • Able to work under pressure and maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to relate well with people of diverse backgrounds, training and experience.
  • Demonstration of creativity, initiative and problem solving.
Credentials
  • RCPLIC - Registered Clinical Pulmonary Interventionalist
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required (PALS preferred) 
Education
  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program (Associates Program)
