Job description

This role is critical to advancing brand presence, stakeholder engagement, and corporate messaging across multiple channels and audiences. You will work collaboratively with the Marketing Director, senior leaders and a dedicated PR agency partner to develop and execute comprehensive communications strategies that support our business objectives and strengthen our position in the renewable energy sector.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Communications & Planning
  • Collaborate with our PR agency partner to identify communications opportunities, manage media relationships, and shape narrative around company initiatives
  • Develop and execute integrated communications strategies and plans aligned with company objectives and brand positioning
  • Provide strategic counsel to leadership on communications implications of business decisions

Media Relations & Press
  • Serve as primary media liaison; manage journalist relationships and media inquiries
  • Coordinate with PR agency to place company stories, thought leadership articles, and executive bylines in relevant industry and mainstream publications
  • Develop press releases, media kits, and other communications materials
  • Prepare executives for media interviews and appearances

Internal Communications
  • Create and distribute internal communications that keep employees informed and aligned with company vision and objectives
  • Partner with HR on internal channels including newsletters, intranet content, and team briefings
  • Support employee engagement initiatives and company culture communications

Stakeholder Engagement
  • Develop targeted communications for key stakeholders including customers, regulators, community partners, and investors
  • Manage content for social media and digital platforms
  • Support event communications and corporate responsibility initiatives

Content Development
  • Create compelling, clear, and accurate communications content across formats (written, video, digital)
  • Develop talking points, FAQs, and educational materials on complex clean energy topics for priority stakeholders
  • Manage brand messaging consistency across all communications

Agency Collaboration
  • Partner effectively with PR agency to leverage their expertise and resources
  • Brief agency partners on company objectives, market conditions, and strategic priorities
  • Review and approve agency recommendations and deliverables
  • Manage communications budget and PR agency contracts with Marketing Director

Reputation Management
  • Monitor media coverage, industry trends, and stakeholder sentiment
  • Coordinate rapid-response communications strategies when needed
  • Manage organizational reputation in digital and traditional channels

Required Qualifications
  • 5-7 years of professional communications, PR, or marketing experience
  • 2+ years in energy, utilities, sustainability, or related B2B industries (preferred)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to translate complex topics into clear, compelling messaging
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing communications strategies
  • Strong media relations experience and success in securing media coverage
  • Experience managing content across multiple channels and formats
  • Proficiency with communications tools and platforms (CMS, social media, email marketing)
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Experience working collaboratively with external agencies
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or related field

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the renewable energy, cleantech, or environmental sector
  • Knowledge of clean energy policy, technology, or market dynamics
  • Experience with thought leadership development and executive communications
  • Crisis communications or media relations experience
  • Experience with measurement and analytics for communications programs
