Job description

Do you genuinely enjoy engaging with clients – not just reviewing returns behind the scenes? Do you seek a clear, realistic path to partnership – not an empty promise? Are you ready to lead client meetings, build multi-generational relationships, and maintain a life outside of busy season?

If you answered yes, let's talk.

We are seeking a Senior Tax Manager to step into a retiring partner's practice. This role offers genuine work-life balance, meaningful leadership, and a tangible path to partnership.

About Us

Corient is one of the fastest-growing wealth management platforms in the United States. We serve more than 10,000 clients and manage over 100 billion in assets – and after recent acquisition in Europe, we are on track to become the world’s largest non-banking wealth manager with over 400 billion in assets under management.

But don't let the size fool you. Our Shaker Heights office has been serving families since 1996. We're a tight-knit team of 25-28 people who genuinely like each other – we do happy hours, Thanksgiving potlucks, and even cooking classes together. We're relaxed when it's slow, we work hard when it's busy, and no one is looking over your shoulder.

Now, as part of Corient, we offer the best of both worlds: the collaborative, non-stuffy feel of a small office, backed by the resources, stability, and growth trajectory of a global industry leader.

Summary of Responsibilities

You will lead all tax compliance and planning for approximately 45–50 ultra-high-net-worth families in our Shaker Heights office. As the final technical reviewer and signer, you will mentor a team of three Tax Managers and support staff, while working side-by-side daily with a Wealth Advisor. No silos. No micromanagement. Just authentic client relationships and impactful leadership.

Essential Functions

  • Oversee individual, trust, estate, gift, foundation, and business tax returns
  • Serve as final technical reviewer and signer
  • Lead client meetings alongside a Wealth Advisor – an active partner, not a background figure
  • Lead, mentor, and develop Tax Managers, Tax Senior, and staff; oversee workload, professional development, and performance evaluations
  • Support integration of acquired offices in the Midwest
  • Act as subject matter expert in trust and estate planning; provide authoritative guidance on complex tax issues
  • Drive firmwide standardization as part of the Corient Tax Leadership team; represent the firm at speaking engagements
  • Participate in prospect meetings and collaborative planning discussions with advisory teams
  • Work alongside Wealth Advisors, Trust team, and Personal CFO services to deliver integrated family office solutions

Education, Experience, and Skills Required

  • 10+ years of progressive tax experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • CPA required (or JD with state licensure)
  • Deep experience with UHNW individuals, trusts, estates, gift tax, and partnerships
  • Experience managing managers and staff
  • Proficiency with BNA, CCH Axcess, SalesForce, and Microsoft Office
  • Willingness to travel regionally in the future
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Compensation

  • Base Salary: $150,000–$190,000 (commensurate with experience) + bonus
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Medical (four plan options – generously subsidized)
  • Employer-paid dental, vision, life, and AD&D insurance
  • Employer-paid short-term and long-term disability
  • Paid maternity and parental leave
  • Unlimited PTO policy
  • FSA, HSA, and Dependent Care FSA
  • Commuter and transit FSA
  • Training reimbursement
  • Paid professional designations
  • Volunteer days
  • Cell phone stipend
  • Relocation assistance

How to Apply

  • Submit you most recent resume

We have a formal recruiting process and have a relationship with Zephyr Connects LLC, whom we use for the screening and hiring process. If you are selected for the next step you will get instructions from Svitlana Diak within 3 days of your submission. Everyone will be contacted.
