Job Description: As a Staff Accountant at Freedom Energy, you will be a vital part of our finance team, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records. Your role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including processing accounts payable and receivable, and assisting with various financial tasks. The Staff Accountant will report to the person directly above them in the company's organization chart, currently the AP/AR Manager. The ideal candidate possess attention to detail, problem solving skills, and an understanding of the General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP),

Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable and Receivable:
  • Process accounts payable efficiently, ensuring timely payments to vendors and clients.
  • Calculate and prepare commission reports monthly from Supplier information and downloads.
  • Handle accounts receivable, tracking incoming payments, invoicing, and reconciling client accounts.
  • Address inquiries related to invoices, payments, and billing discrepancies

Journal Entries and Reconciliations:
  • Assist in preparing journal entries, maintaining accurate records of financial transactions.
  • Reconcile accounts, identifying discrepancies and resolving them promptly.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Month-End Close:
  • Participate in month-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare necessary documentation for audits and reviews.

Financial Analysis and Special Projects:
  • Assisting with our Wholesale Market Program and the ISO-NE requirements, Net Energy Billing, and commission projects as needed.
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly/yearly filings for PUC Utilities Commissions, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
  • Analyze financial data to support business decisions and strategic initiatives.
  • Assist with special projects as needed, contributing to process improvements and efficiency.
  • Use your knowledge and skills to increase operational efficiency within the department.

Backup Support:
  • Be prepared to step in and provide backup for critical accounting and finance functions.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or equivalent from a four-year college or university.
  • Two to four years of related experience and/or training.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Proficiency in MS Office products (Excel, Word, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint).
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and SalesForce.
  • Strong analytical skills and basic math proficiency.
  • Ability to interpret technical instructions and deal with abstract variables.
  • Must be able to work independently and in a team environment in a professional manner.
