Job description

***Must have cancer registry experience and ODS certified or currently testing out to receive ODS***
 

A training position which requires enrollment in a Cancer Information Management Program with expected completion within 18 months of hire and attainment of CTR credentials. Demonstrates incremental understanding and competency in follow-up, casefinding, suspense, and abstracting. Demonstrates progressive competency in ICD-O coding, FORDS, Collaborative Staging, AJCC Staging, Multiple Primary & Histology Coding Rules, and Texas Cancer Registry and National Cancer Data Base reporting requirements. Demonstrates basic understanding of American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer Program Standards. Meets all internal and external training targets. Assists in the coordination of cancer conferences. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Associate's Degree in Allied Health related field from an accredited school with evidence of enrollment in a National Cancer Registrars Association (NCRA) Cancer Information Management accredited program
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Graduate from an accredited school for Health Information Management
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 1 year in Cancer Registry, Health Information Management or other Allied Health field. Must possess basic working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 2 years of cancer registry experience
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Must obtain Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) certification within 18 months of hire or transfer into department or position
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
